Outstanding exhibits! I visit ABQ at least 3 times a year. This city never ceases to amaze me. People here for the most part are very friendly, a few of the security people need to work on their people skills.

Many people are familiar with the annual October Balloon Fiesta, but this museum is a way to delight in the history of ballooning year round. There’s a video, touch screen information (something very new), baskets and artifacts from original long distance balloons. Be sure to ask about the race to be the first balloon to successfully cross the English Channel... More

This is a must see event. Hundreds of balloons are out for the public to see. It is more than a one day event. Plan for 2-3 days, you will not be able to see it all. I come every year for the event and never get tired of it.

We didn't get to visit Albuquerque during the Balloon Fiesta but this museum gave us an opportunity to learn more about the history of hot air ballooning. This is a small-ish museum that requires maybe about 60-90 minutes for a visit but there's lots to read about and plenty of visuals. It may be a bit boring for younger children.... More

The museum is fun, uncrowded (on a free Sunday morning in November) and interesting. We spent an hour and felt it was worthwhile. But...we had another destination further up the highway, so we didn't have to make a special trip. I'm guessing that this would be much more exciting during the balloon festival, which happens alongside the museum. Go, but... More

Great personalized tour through the museum from "Bob". It was a quiet day in the museum, being a weekday, but we could tell Bob really enjoyes being a docent, he was very informative and had lots of anitdotes that kept us laughing. Never knew about how balloons were used against the US by the Japanese or the different styles; not... More

We have been to this museum 3 or 4 times - fun, educational, some interactive displays - you will leave knowing some much about the history of balloon flight, the earliest pioneers, the technologies, etc. Also gives you a nudge that Albuquerque might be a fabulous Balloon Fiesta to attend! Nice gift shop, clean restrooms, lovely grounds around museum. That... More

My family (two adults, one teenager) thought this might be boring, but it turned out to be such fun!! There are lot of interactive science exhibits that are easy and educational (it's worth taking the time to do them), and a very nice gift shop. I'd highly recommend this museum!

We know about the annual balloon fiesta that makes the national news every year. However, ballooning goes back hundreds of years and there's plenty of significant research that has been done using balloons. The museum is packed with exhibits that document the history of ballooning and some of the significant events of long distance exploration. Actual equipment displays are the... More
