My husband and I went to the South Texas Botanical Gardens Nature Center on a Monday afternoon. We spent about 90 minutes walking through the gardens and a nature trail. We enjoyed seeing many exotic birds, reptiles, exotic flowers, rose gardens and butterfly house. There was a 1:30 demonstration where I held a cockatoo and my husband petted an iguana... More

I wasn’t sure what to expect from a botanical garden near a city this size. I came away pleased with the experience even though there were a few improvements that need making. It’s clear that there is work going on here, and we visited early in the spring so some areas of the garden had not come into their own,... More

We came a little to early for most of the blooms, but it still was a nice place. The trail was marked very well and you have an easy to read map. Plenty of places to stop along the trail and just watch nature. They have a little selection of turtles and parrots. Plus a small butterfly room. Also a... More

Solid place to visit if you don't mind driving out into the middle of nowhere. It definitely has a Latin-American-like theme to it, and there are plenty of plants and birds. I was there in August, and I was amazed by how the animals were doing so well in such a dry area.

The gardens are not well cared for and the exhibits are in disrepair. Not a place I would spend money to visit.

My husband, my two sons (ages 13 and 2), and I made a special trip to Corpus to visit the Botanical gardens. My 13 year old is Autistic and loves snakes and plants. We arrived around 11:45am, and it wasn't very busy. At the counter where you pay an entry fee, they were selling different type of food to feed... More

Visited on April 3 and not much was in bloom and it looked as though there was a lot of planting to be done! Saw many birds both caged and wild along with turtles, lizards, snakes, and reptiles. Nice easy trails to walk-very relaxing. Lots of butterflies too! Concerns - One cage in the main building had a dead turtle... More

We travelled the world and have been to many botanical gardens. This was a mix between a reptile/bird Park a small botanical garden and a nursery. The Orchid house was best. I would certainly not recommend it to people that serousely enjoy botanical gardens. Spring is not the best time to visit as most flowers have not bloomed. Small kids... More

I am always looking for an excuse to be outdoors and botanical garden lured me out after seeing them on trip advisor. We started in the reptile center and had fun playing hide and seek with all of the critters. When we noticed the large bearded dragon in a high cage, a guide came over and opened it so we... More

Have some nice exhibits. Need more signage to guide people on nature walks and gravel to avoid muddying guest shoes. Suggest trying to attend when they have Parrot Talks (although that event could benefit with some planning and polish).
