Conveniently located on North Beach, the Texas State Aquarium is just minutes from Corpus Christi's downtown district, convention center complex, and museums. The Texas State Aquarium Association is a not-for-profit, educational institution that does not receive any city, state, or federal funding for its operations. Every visit to the Texas State Aquarium is a new and exciting discovery of animals that remind us all of our responsibility to those whose world we share. The Aquarium's Second Chances Wildlife Rehabilitation Program is federally permitted and operates under rigorous standards established by the Association of Zoos and Aquariums (AZA). Each year, thousands of protected, endangered or threatened species along the Texas coast become ill or injured. Most are brought to our facility with problems caused directly or indirectly by humans. The goal of the Texas State Aquarium's Second Chances Program is to rehabilitate, and whenever possible, return the animals to their natural environment. The best part about the aquarium was probably the shows. We especially enjoyed the Hawn Flight show and the dolphins. We sat in the splash zone and that was not a lie. We ended up fairly wet. It is under construction right now and will double in size soon. We plan on taking our boys back then when we are... More

Half of the exhibits here are outdoors. As you enter the grounds you will find a beautiful bald eagle cage, a turtle cay, otter creek, stingray lagoon as well as Hawn Wild Flight Theater and Dolphin Bay. This entire area faces out onto the shoreline across from the Lexington Aircraft Carrier. This area is very inviting. There are presentations each... More

A February visit to the Aquarium in Corpus Christi was wonderful. The sun was out and the birds and fish were very happy to entertain us. There is construction going on, but the guides kept our attention away from the distractions. The views were amazing. This is a very nice place for all ages.

The Texas State Aquarium is a real gem. The setting right on the ocean is awesome so that it has mostly an outdoor feeling. The dolphin show was wonderful with Kai and Shadow being two great stars! And in the near future there will be four dolphins in the show. The personnel were very outgoing and we especially enjoyed the... More

We went in February and there was lots of construction and closed off parts. It's a nice aquarium, lots of good stuff to see. Be sure to go to the special shows every half hour, they were very entertaining. The staff for the most part are knowledgeable about their areas and the facility is bright and clean, and well laid... Thank you for visiting. Most of the construction you saw is work being done on our $50 million Caribbean Journey expansion, which is being built adjacent to our current building and will open next Spring. Our front entrance/lobby has been under construction and is re-opening this week. None of this new construction impacts any of our current exhibits. The only... More

Spent considerable time with the dolphins and talking with staff. Shadow and Kia are the resident dolphins that were born in the 1990's. They are spectacular mammals. Two new dolphins are currently being acclimated to join Shadow and Kia. The aquarium is on the ocean front in a great setting. Petting and feeding the stingrays was a fun experience.

Very nice as far as aquariums go. You have to pay to park. But over all, nice way to spend time with the family or to take visitors. One of the few things to actually do in Corpus Christi besides going to the beach. They will be updating it soon so I will certainly be interested in going back to... More

Aquarium doing some renovations but we were able to attend the programs. We enjoyed fact that was not busy so we had time to talk with trainers/workers and get first hand information. Apparently we were just the right day before spring break. Beautiful day with just right amount sunshine.
