Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

We drove the causeway/road out to the state park to see the Great Salt Lake. There is really not much to see as the lake has receded a great distance from the road. We saw a few buffalo or bison if you prefer. We basically drove the park roads and made a u turn back to Salt Lake City.

Wanted to see the Great Salt Lake. Guy in the booth was completely rude. $5 to park in an empty lot with a visitor center that was closed. Would not return to this park.

Our last day of a 12 day trip. Didn’t have a plan and decided to run out to the lake instead of sitting at the airport. Easy in/out and we ended up with a boat ride and went swimming out in the lake - rather - “floating in the lake”. Great way to end the trip to Utah!

Great visit and don't miss Antelope Island ($15. fee; $10. seniors) and the spectacular views of the Great Salt Lake and hundreds of bison.

Is it worth the 20 miles or so from SLC - probably not. But if you decide to go then the view is stunning, the smell ever present and the visitor centre informative.

Entry Is $5

Sad to see the water level so low. I only put my feet in. It was fun to watch people's reaction to being boyant. It was very hazy so viewing the mountains wasn't as nice.

Here at a family reunion and drove out to the Great Salt Lake Marina. As we approached we could see a fire up ahead on the road. Thank goodness, we were turning off the road to enter the park. Excitement was building as we drove through the entrance. Finally at the gate- and we were advised that the park was being evacuated due to the fire. Totally understand- the winds were high and there was a lot of dead brush- and if the fire hopped that road, well it wouldn't be pretty. So we entered the park only to turn around and leave. No getting out. We drove down the road a bit and parked outside the abandoned Saltair resort. We wanted to walk to the water, but the high winds were blowing prickly salt into our skin, so we abandoned that idea. All in all- an interesting trip we were glad to have taken, even if it didn't go as planned.

Beautiful as always, was a little dry from the drought but Beautiful scenery. The new burger place however is super ugly and is ran by very rude KIDS, the place feels cold and there was no smiles or anything fun. Lots of eye rolling and for those prices it was not worth it.

Not sure how to improve this. It was hazy and hot on the day we went. You couldn't see much and the smell was horrible! The low water level makes it a very unpleasant place to be right now.

This experience was not the most fun, but is definitely 5-stars because of the natural resource that is the Great Salt Lake. When we visited, the Great Salt Lake was at a record low point, with scientists concerned that the lake itself may be disappearing due to climate change. I felt this was an important site for my children to visit. I am not a climate alarmist or anything, but I do believe that the quality of our natural resources changes over time (i.e. the "Old Man of the Mountain" in New Hampshire what collapsed in mid-2003. As much as we try to preserve these resources, they will not always look the same, and we felt it was critical to take our homeschooled children on an educational tour of the West.
