We rode up the canyon after talking to a park employee at Antelope Island, he was right about a great ride.

Beautiful! It's hard to rate or judge scenery as beauty is in the eye of the beholder. But Big Cottonwood Canyon provided various landscapes - ice, rivers, water, snow, mountains, clouds, and wildlife. Will be visiting again.

Gorgeous drive--well paved, lightly traveled this time of year. Stunning roadside waterfalls and trails (plenty of safe pull-offs). Silver Lake is a wonderful flatland hike. Much of the trail had melting snow so walk/run shoes at the minimum; traction necessary; trekking poles or cane not...More

We drove up here to take the grandparents sightseeing while we were all in town for our son's college graduation. I would like to go back to take some hikes. The canyon is so beautiful. Unfortunately we couldn't head over the pass because it was...More

This is a must if visiting the Salt Lake area. It has some of the best scenery around. I'd visit when there is still snow on the ground!

What majestic and beautiful canyons! It's early spring - we can only imagine how girgeous it will be when trees start to bloom.

Lots of hikes to do with the whole family. I carry my little guy and my husband carries our 3 year old. Each hike is beautiful! Our kids will be excited to hike again there soon.

Desperately wanted to see a moose in the wild - we did! Wonderful experience, easy to get to from SLC and many trails to hike.

Be careful though. Dogs are NOT aloud in this canyon, even if they are in your car. It is unlikely, but you could get a hefty fine for even bringing your furry friend on a car ride.

I would recommend a rental car. The canyon goes for about 15 miles or so. There are a lot of different areas that you can hike or bike into. Uber would be pretty expensive, not to mention you could lose cell connection in... More

Not unless it’s a licensed service dog. No dogs in either Cottonwood canyons because they are watersheds for a large part of the valley.
