This is a beautiful canyon all year round, but particularly nice to hike in during the summer when it is hot in the valley. There are a number of great hikes at various locations in the canyon.

The place is beautiful, even with snow!!! I felt really safe, found the trails easily, strenuous but not impossible. It made me fell in love with SLC, love it is so close to the city.

We enjoyed traveling up this canyon. The draw to us, besides the beauty and variety, is the fact that in the summertime travelers can drive through the canyon and connect into Heber City or go north into Park City. We also enjoy the walk around...More

I'm in Salt Lake City for a day in mid April this year & want to do at least one tour in the time I have there. In people's opinion would be be better to visit the Big Cottonwood Canyon or Antelope Island as a tour? Thanks in advance

My friend is landing in Salt Lake City today and is interested in getting her rental car and going on the scenic drive. How could we find out in advance if any of the roads might be closed due to winter weather? She won't be doing much hiking but would like to drive then stop here and there for vistas and pictures before it gets dark.
