We arrived at 3:15pm under the impression that the museum closed at 5pm. The museum website, other online sources, the sign on the door and one of the volunteers had the same misinformation. The museum closed at 4pm and we saw as much as we...More

There are all kinds of things to see, for young and old, real history, things the Pioneers brought across the plains, clothes there wore, toys, wall decorations made with hair, paintings, pottery, silverware, dolls, knifes, guns, uniforms, you name it. And you can see it...More

You really have to commend the Daughters of the Utah Pioneers organization for being so dedicated to preserving the artifacts from the days of the Mormon pioneers -- particularly because most of the work is done by volunteers. This museum in particular houses an enormous...More

What a collection! We were impressed with the wide variety of items that were exhibited. We found the museum quite impressive.

The museum has some nice prices, however whoever the curator is has never heard of overkill. Instead of displaying every item ever donated they need to select a few really good examples of each category. A real hodgepodge with nothing making an impression as a result

This is run by the Daughters of Utah Pioneers and is clean with excellent displays. We felt is was more oriented to the pioneer people that settled Utah than a collection of artifacts.

From furniture owned by Joseph Smith to a piano that was buried on the plains to preserve it to carriages to a two-headed goat to musical instruments from the 1800s, this museum has it. It's kind of like a very large small-town museum. Come ready...More

This museum is next to the Utah State Capitol. Its a great place to see lots of pioneer artifacts. I think it is the largest I have ever seen of its kind. It is free (with a donation box on site). This museum could take...More

A fabulous museum that has loads of things to see from several decades of western pioneers. The basement includes a carriage house with numerous wagons while the upper floors contain everything from clothing to personal effects. A great place to spend an hour or more.
