Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Stayed at Big Cove campground. Beautiful, quiet. Primitive (no hookiups) but good facilities. Mainly tents (only 20 sites) but our 21 ft trailer fit fine. We ran generator (super quiet Honda 3000is) for few hours each day to charge battery. Not busy mid-week. Busier for weekend. Our campsite (#14) was literally 100 Ft from start/finish for Barclay Marathon (look it up).
Frozen Head State Park (a hiker’s paradise) was impressive and beautiful. Hiked to DeBord Falls. Great facilities (picnic areas, playgrounds, educational, etc). Staff (Julie) were extremely friendly and helpful.
If you like hiking or just being outdoors, definitely put on your to-do list!

We live nearby so are biased but we love this park for hiking, camping, church dinners on the ground, splashing in the creek with children, and just enjoying the spectacular natural scenery of TN in a place that is not spoiled by commercialism or overcrowding.

What a nice park well maintained and darling to walk around last fall. Everyone was so nice and friendly. People had their children and pets out in the fresh mountain air.

One of the nicest state parks for hiking. Hikes range from easy to more difficult and all trails are well maintained. Great visitor center with helpful staff. A good park for a variety of bird species too. Only tent camping in the park.

Four of us camped in the main campground for the weekend and loved every minute. The camping spots were spacious, and each provided a grill, fire ring, and picnic table. Hiking trails are well maintained and the hikes were beautiful—most of ours had water views almost the entire time. The bath house was clean and attractive, and rangers clean it twice daily. The rangers are friendly and helpful. There is a little book hut which we enjoyed, and although we weren’t traveling with young children, my kids would have loved it. There are also nice playgrounds, and the streams offered lots of places which kids would love to play in. Our fellow campers observed the 10pm quiet time, which we appreciated. We can’t wait to go back!

Nice hidden gem of a state park. Hiked up the fairly rocky but wide trail to Debord Falls. Nice little falls, stairs down to the creek for a better view are a little tricky and the handrail could use some reinforcement, but still doable. Viewing deck gives a nice angle of the falls, for those not inclined to venture down to the creek. About a 100 foot elevation change from trailhead to the falls, with about 60 of that in the last 1/10th of a mile. Had a couple of nice photos to post but trip advisor would not allow to be uploaded due to file size.

Went out Saturday to the Heritage Festival at Frozen Head State Park. Yes, it was chilly even around noon time. The park was good but the Festival was not as good or big like previous years.

We are camping here in a couple of weeks. Can we expect quiet, privacy and a lack of trailers when we camp here? We have tent site #6 and see that the campground is full for the time we are staying.

YES! There are no hookups at the sites here. Kind of like walk-in sites, only you don't have to walk. This is my new favorite campground. So secluded, small, and quiet.
Now...
You drive by a prison to get there. Didn't bother me, but many people seemed bothered by this in their reviews.
One night I was there, there was a large group ... they were pretty loud - never after hours, but still - it took a bit away from my escape.
Don't forget anything. There's nothing close to run to. (For me, that's awesome - keeps away the glampers.)
And...ALL trails go UP. 😜
ENJOY!!!

I would like to know if I can get a 28-30' travel trailer into this campground most of the pictures I have saw of the park are of tent campers.

In our time in the park we didn't see any travel trailers but then we did not actually visit the campsites. The park website does state that there are no hookups for electricity or water and there are no dump stations. That may be your answer. Bill Bomar, Huntsville, Alabama
