Our Marlborough winery and tasting room are nestled in amongst our vineyards in the heart of Sauvignon Blanc country just outside of the town of Renwick. At the entrance to Forrest wines stands a prominent stone wall built of the very stones that come from the surrounding area of the Wairau Valley. Beyond the wall the drive way winds through our oldest Sauvignon Blanc vineyard, over the small stone bridge and into a beautiful park setting, with willow trees and a duck pond, picnic tables, badminton, tennis and patenque. The atmosphere is relaxed and family-friendly, with toys for children of all ages. You may even catch a glimpse of Frankie the family Border Collie, she is so welcoming. The tasting room has a casual kiwi feel with couches, bean bags and outdoor furniture. A large variety of wines is on offer, a chance to taste a couple of your favourites or be adventurous and try a tasting tray with your choice of six wines. We pride ourselves on providing informative discussions about our wines, winemaking and our region. A selection of picnic nibbles is available for light lunches with cheeses, antipasto, smoked mussels and more. Please ask the cellar door staff.Wine tours of the vineyard and winery are available by appointment.Open 7 days 10am-4.30pm2011 Holidays - Closed on these dates below: New Year's Day 1st JanuaryGood Friday 22nd AprilMarlborough Anniversary Day 31st OctoberChristmas Day 25th DecemberBoxing Day 26th DecemberMarlborough has one of the world’s greatest wine trails: fabulous wine, breathtaking scenery, a warm climate and relaxed people clustered in one small grape growing region (approximately 14 x 7 kilometres). This was my favorite spot on our winery tour. You drive through a bit of their vineyard to get to the winery. They offer complimentary tastings and $7 tasting trays which you can sample more wines with the purchase. Really cute outdoor area to sit and sip on your favorite wine.

We visited Forrest Cellar door and were impressed from the very start. A front of house lady was busy with a large group but immediately excused herself, welcomed us and said soneone would be right with us. A welcoming and knowledgeable young lady arrived and was very very personable. The setup for tasting is the best we have been to... More

Forrest Wines was our last stop on a "Wines of Marlborough" tour--and it was our favorite! Our guide explained how this winery was founded by a husband and wife--both doctors! After showing us some vines and explaining how they are supported (3 ways) she took us inside for the tasting. We tried sauvignon blanc (of course), reisling, pinot noir, and... More

Thanks for the great review. Just to clarify the "Doctors" range of wines are the lower alcohol. We do have a Californian importer - look on our website for more details. More

I was first introduced to Forrest estate in 1996 when i joined the police. We travelled to blenheim for a day trip. Since then i have been an avid follower of John's wine. I have tried everyone and honestly have not found one i dont like. I am normally not a Chardonnay or rose drinker but even these were pleasant... More

Of the 7 or 8 wineries that we toured, the tour aspect of the Forrest Wines experience was the most informative. Very enjoyable and fun mainly thanks to Becky, and some novel low-alcohol wines, even if we are a little unsure of that concept on moral grounds!! The Doctors Rose is a must try!

Thanks for your comments James. Having a research biochemist and a Doctor as owners and winemakers goes a little way to explaining the lower alcohol concept - we care about your health and we love pushing some of the boundaries around what has been expected in wine. Look forward to seeing you back sometime. More

Forrest winery is my favorite for tastings. A tasting tray of 6 wines is $7, and cheese and crackers $10. The staff bring you what you ordered and you can s relax and enjoy them in your own time. Loved it!

Thanks for taking the time to make some lovely comments Karen. Personally I think the experience of wine is relaxing and enjoying it with friends. Food adds another dimension and can change the appreciation and flavour perception quite a lot so it is always a magical combination. Thanks. We hope we see you back again soon. More

There are no free tastings here but definitely still worth a visit. You can purchase a flight of 6 wines (selected from a menu) and relax in the garden on the beanbags or tables. As you are essentially paying for tastings there is no high pressure sale (or awkwardness!) to buy bottles. Good value for money - cheese platter with... More

My husband and I agreed that Forrest offered the best wine tasting experience among 3 the 3 vineyards we visited on one day. The hostess was friendly, introduced the vineyard history and the wine on the tasting menu. The 6 wine we had chosen was presented on a wooden tray with numbers. We were very pleased a glass of water... More
