We visited the museum as they advertised a Bierstadt display (look him up, he was an important artist in promoting the US West and eventual development of national park system in 19th century). There were other displays as well, celebrating the centennial of the US Natl Parks, celebrating modern artist, etc. Enjoyed the visit. Very reasonably priced ($3 per person).

NBAM currently runs several interesting and unique exhibitions that includes Janet Pritchard's contemporary photographic work on Yellowstone Park, Albert Bierstadt's artwork done in the 1850's, and Andre Smits' photographs of people who work in the Visual Arts. Very varied and offers interesting perspective by different artists on the shared subject matter. The museum opens another window into the culture life... More

The New Bedford Art Museum highlights local artists as well as thematic curated exhibits of high caliber. The Museum is a worthwhile destination when visiting New Bedford.

The museum contains modern art that has little connection to New Bedford. We found it disappointing given the number of wonderful artists and crafts people who have lived and worked in this seaport city, and continue to do so.

So if you come to town for the whaling museum, walk down the main street to this museum. Its kind of a bookend to the bigger one. Its small, just one floor, but when we were there, there were excellent exhibits. Also a nice little gift shop.

This small City owned gallery has a series of shows throughout the year that are mostly well worth seeing. They solicit well known artists and curators and put on numerous shows in their various galleries as well as always having a single local artist in their Regions gallery. Open Free on AHA nights, the second Thursday of each month and... More

Although this museum is small and had limited physical space it had a show that was thought provoking. The theme of the current exhibition was Drawing. The graphics were unconventional, semi-abstract. Artists from Southern Massachusetts were featured.
