Very interesting old house that presents an excellent window on how some of the people who helped build the whaling industry lived. Visitors will learn lots of interesting information about the industry, which was very important during its time. The tour guide was very knowledgeable and helpful.

Went to a wedding there quite a few years ago and thought it was a very nice place. The grounds are maticulet. Or at least they were way back when. Very historical building.

What a wonderful house museum! I'm sure the gardens are worth seeing during the growing season. Lovingly restored and beautifully furnished, it gave me a great idea of upper-class living along the shore of Vineyard Sound in the 19th century.

Enjoyed talking with tour guide about the history of this home and ability to tour on our own..even entering the bedrooms instead of peering over a rope or into glass. Gardens were lovely but wish we could gave seen them in the summer.

We were amazed at how well preserved the building, its interior and furnishings, and the gardens were maintained. In particular, the partnerships used to establish and maintain the gardens were evident everywhere.

Having three successive families makes for interesting history and decor: everything from Art Deco bathrooms to original 1830s shelving; a beautiful staircase to an exhibition on travel. This is a lovely house with large and beautiful gardens, well used for weddings. Well worth a visit.

The Rotch-Jones-Duff House and Gardens are open to the public for a nominal fee. I think we paid a senior rate of $5 per person. Docents are pleasant and eager to please. Though tours are usually self-guided, staff led us through the first floor rooms because the house wasn't busy on the day of our visit. Built in 1834 for... More

Although our tour was last minute, the tour guide was absolutely a delight, encouraging us to park on the side street and come on in. The donation is $5. per adult. We were given a personal tour, and informed to tour the home independently. The home and grounds are exquisite and information given is very good. We recommend this tour... More

This house is a treasure - and it's huge! Owned by several families over the years - you will get great information from the tour guide about the families and the life they lead. Very elegant house -- gives you a taste of what it must have been like to live there a hundred years ago. Small gift shop.

Lovely house worth seeing when visiting historic New Bedford. It's part of the fascinating whaling and economic history of the town.
