From the moment I stepped into this small but densely packed and richly informative museum, I felt drawn back in time to my childhood growing up black in Alabama. A lot of firsts awaited me: learning about the Domestic Slave Trade; lifting a burlap, cotton-picking...More

Great collection of materials about life in Natchez that really comes to life thanks to private tour with curator. He selected interesting stories to keep the kids engaged during the museum tour. Brings the history of Natchez alive better than any plantation home.

Have been here many times but learn something new each time. It shows another side to Natchez than is obvious to the first time tourist and that there is a deep and strong culture of African Americans. While I understand James G comments below, I...More

This place is good and has lots of information but is poorly curated. This means it is hard to pull a clear narrative from all the objects. This is a shame because there is some really interesting material but it just doesn't deliver on the punch...More

Natchez has many beautiful homes and some interesting white Antebellum history but we felt the coverage of African American history and particularly their role in the creation of southern wealth, was weak, non-existent or down right false as presented in the home tours. Fortunately this...More
