If you have an interest in Emerson or literature, a tour of Emerson's house is definitely worth taking. You can't walk around without a tour, but the groups are generally very small, and the guides are interesting and informative. It's worth doing, in my opinion.

We walked in on a visit, apparently they keep the front door locked even when they're open, and three people are working... little weird. First part of our tour, the main floor of the house, was given by a young girl who spoke WAYYY too...More

I visited on a day that they weren't open, but I still wanted to get a picture of the house. Be advised that there really isn't any signage other than to tell you that this was Emerson's house and the years he occupied it. I'm...More

Walking through the rooms papered still with original wall coverings and furnished with the tables, beds, and chairs used by Emerson and his friends, we feel their presence. A little dollhouse probably made by Thoreau for Emerson's daughters from a commode drawer, the full library...More

I truly wanted to give the Emerson House a five-star review, as I love Emerson and the whole Concord scene. I live nearby. However, I think I'm generous giving it three. This museum has limited hours and I stopped in when I realized it was...More

A very interesting tour. Emerson's family still owns the house and operates it as a homage to "the Great Man of Concord". Lots of good insights to life in the late 1800's in Concord and of the famed orator.

Went here as an extension of our tour of the museum across the street on a perfect late summer day. You must ring the doorbell to enter. Then we had two wonderful docents who conducted us through the house. They were bursting with information about...More
