Getting to and from the site takes some climbing effort, but this tour only lasts an hour. So, it's not that hard. Our guide was very informative and patient with questions. This is one of the must-see sites.

Balcony house was an excellent tour. Ranger Brown led tour and was a wonderful guide. Able to answer questions beyond the basic tour narrative. It was so good for my grandkids to get a sense of perspective in how much skill was required and actually...More

We enjoyed the tour of Balcony House, climbing the ladders and squeezing through the tunnels. The Ranger spent time telling us about how the ancient dwellers accessed their homes. Would highly recommend this tour.

A must see of all the cliff dwellings! Intricate and amazing details! Prepare to climb ladders and squeeze through small spaces. So much fun!!

We enjoyed this tour. It was one hour long, most time spend listening to the Ranger. It had fun ladders and a tunnel.

This was my kids' favorite tour - we took the first in the morning to avoid some heat. My 11 and 8 year olds did fine on the ladders and tunnels.

Our tour of the Balcony House started at 10.00 a.m. Led by a National Parks Ranger, forty people in total headed 50 metres down several sets of stairs, along a path for a hundred metres and then up a 10-metre-high wooden ladder into the Balcony...More

Loved this Ranger led tour. Our guide was Pete. He was well informed about the park and Balcony House. I was a little worried about climbing the 32 ft. Ladder but I made it just fine. The views were amazing. Just standing there thinking about...More

From Wisconsin? First, get to Mesa Verde, closest significant town is Cortex, CO. Then either with a rental car or your own, drive to the Mesa Verde Visitors' Center. Get a park map and get a ticket for the tour. I... More
Visiting all the way from Nashville. I have one day to spend there. How likely am I to get tickets to the Cliff House/Balcony House on (and for) the day I arrive? Thanks!

It depends what time you arrive. If you arrive when the Visitor Center opens you should be ok. Ideally, if your schedule permits, arrive the day before and purchase for the following morning.
