Van Buren's legacy is about compromise in American presidential history, not something that I remembered much before this visit. The tour of the house was very informative and it very good, historically accurate condition. My favorite part is the staircase, so do make sure to...More

It’s a treat to visit a National Park that doesn’t have a fee. We arrived about 1/2 hour before the tour to sign up and had time to view the short video about our 8th president before entering the mansion. Also had a chance to...More

Location is off the beaten path. House is in great shape and the staff was knowledgeable and helpful. Van Buren had a fascinating life that you learn about even though he was one of the Who? presidents. Worth the trip and the price was excellent.

It takes about 1 hour to tour the house. We visited on a rainy day, so we did walk around the grounds but I would say they are nothing special to see.
