Took a tour of home of our 8th president, Martin Van Buren. You are given an informative historical interesting guided tour of his beautiful home in Kinderhook. The National Park Service does the tour and we were lucky to have a private tour!

Very cool visit if you are into history! The house and grounds are well maintained and gorgeous! Also, do not forget to go into the town of Kinderhook to the cemetery to visit the resting place of our 8th President of the United States.

An easy drive from our weekend base in Hudson. Our ranger guide Ed was very knowledgeable about Martin Van Buren & his house. I’ve seen lots of old houses, but the early indoor plumbing feature in the house were a surprise to me. A must...More

We visited the Martin Van Buren home on a rainy Saturday morning. Due to the rain we didn't take advantage of touring the grounds, but the visitor center had a short informative film and the tour guide gave a wonderful tour of the house. I...More

When people think of President's homes they want to tour, Martin Van Buren probably isn't in the top 5, or even top 10. If you're remotely close to the area, that should change ASAP. Lindenwald, the home of President Van Buren is an amazing architectural...More

Who knows much about our 8th president, Martin van Buren? Or knows where his home is? What a contrast with the Hyde Park home of FDR, here you park and enter a very small building where you can sign up to be one of ten...More

the building is interesting, but the information depends on ability to hear well. People who are hard of hearing need a handout they can read instead of listening to the guide.

We enjoyed our visit to this National Park Site. The house tour takes a little over an hour, but we stayed nearly two - taking in the informative movie in the gift shop and walking the beautiful pathed grounds of his homestead Lindenwald. Our ranger...More

It takes about 1 hour to tour the house. We visited on a rainy day, so we did walk around the grounds but I would say they are nothing special to see.
