Great photo spot
Sep 2019
It is perfect for the early morning sunrise, the late sunset or anything in between. The views are why you hike up to the top and you can even find some locks of love. These are the iconic rocks that jet out to the sea, but you have nice views of the castle, town, beaches, sea and mountains too. Great photo spot. Each time we have visitors, this is a must do location.

Cool view point

Nice view point, a few steps but not too taxing and worth it for the views.
It’s free and I good spot to take photos.

For a good view over the town, the coastline and beaches
Oct 2019
Very well worth a visit. The opens pace at the top of the cliff with the cross is.. well, and open pace with a huge cross that is lit in the evenings. The view of the Town, the coast and the beaches are spectacular though. This is a good place to watch the sunrise or the sunset. If you are lucky you can spot Dolphins playing in the water in the mornings. The walk up isn´t difficult, but if you use a wheelchair it is quite another matter.

Sep 2019 • Friends
We walked along the sea front to here the walk is lovely with restaurant and bars along the way and plenty of places to stop. It has a fair few steps to the top I would suggest if you are a little out of shape walk up in the evening when the cross is lit or when cooler. Looks nice qhwn the sun is going down and has some nice views

A lot of steps – but worth it.
Jun 2019 • Couples
On a promontory in Almuñecar stands Peñon del Santo with commanding views over the town and the coast. Be warned there are a lot of steps to get to the top but the climb is certainly worth it! It was a bit cloudy on the day of our visit but on a clear day I’d image it would be spectacular – well worth a visit

Easy climb/great views
Feb 2018 • Couples
Not sure why there’s a picture of wetsuits as the main photo?

The steps leading up to the Cross are on the promenade where the rocky headland splits the two beaches of Playa Cristobal. The steps are well spaced and paved so it’s a relatively easy climb to reach the summit where there’s a large square in front of the Cross. You get some really great views up and down the coast as well as over Almunecar town (you’re at the same height as nearby apartments). It’s also nice looking out to sea over the small rocky island just off the headland. Metal railings in front of the Cross are becoming full of “lovers locks” padlocked all along (so don’t forget to take one with you if feeling romantic!). Next to the entrance is a large statue dedicated to a chap who founded the Emirate of Córdoba back in the day (755AD).

The cross is visible from miles away but the view from the castle makes a lovely picture. Its well worth the climb just to say you've been there!

Do not visit when it's to hot, you must climb to the top and you will not regret, the view is fantastic, in the morning and in the evening. Penon del Santo is a nice attraction, and when you come down you will find bars and cafes for a refreshing.

Great views
Apr 2017 • Couples
Worth the walk to see the views . A lot of steps to climb so not for everyone. Lots of padlocks on the fence with couples names on , so if you feel romantic don't forget to take a padlock with you !!
