This sanctuary became a spiritual haven for civil rights activists when Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. served as senior pastor in the 1960s. On the self-guided audio tour, King's inspirational sermons will take visitors back in time, while the new Horizon Sanctuary across the street is home to the present day congregation, highlighted by its traditional tabernacle choir.

This is an everyday working church. Yes - there is history associated with Martin Luther King Jr. and the church, but it's the stories about the people and the church that are interesting - not the building itself. If you're in the area it may...More

Extremely affordable & convenient way to dive in to this great historical community. From his childhood home, firehouse, church & entire neighborhood, one can imagine him walking the blocks and being influenced by all he observed around him.

Enjoyed the tour and being able to sit where people sat to listen to the pastor. This is a beautiful church and it feels peaceful.

The kids will love to see it first hand. It's better then just reading about it in school or in books. They get to walk through the powerful doors and see the past.

Walking into the chapel where Rev. King preached of civil rights long before his famous son was born is taking you back to the beginning. Dr. King was clearly influenced by his father. The National Parks have sermons coming through speakers in the chapel where...More

Church is just down the block from MLK's childhood home. I was surprised at how small it was. Solemn place where you can almost feel the strength of those who have been there before you. Stunning stained glass windows.

Enjoy may be the wrong choice of words in the title. Perhaps Reflect, Inspired, Humbled, Reverent would be more appropriate. Regardless, everyone will take home some emotion from a visit to Ebenezer Baptist Church. The congregation now meets in a new building across the street,...More

You just have to go to see this birth place of MLK's preaching. It is worth spending half an hours to see the place it started. Martin Luther King's resting place is just around the corner.

This site is directly across the street from the historic Ebenezer Baptist Church which is now a musuem and open for tours. I attended the 8:00am service and it was very inspirational. The order of service was organized and it was communion Sunday which really...More
