I found this to be a lovely place with beautiful authentic grounds amongst the small and beautiful town. We ended up hanging out in the large grassy arena and just soaking up everything that this place had to offer. There is alot to say so allow yourself some time. Walk down into the main fair to have something delicious to... More

You arrive at the main attraction of Skofja Loka walking on a pleasant path starting from the town centre. The castle houses a rich but generic museum, more interesting and original the outdoor exposition in the park on its side. If you have 30 minutes more to spend, have a walk to Vincarje, the country area just above the castle.

Finally after visiting many castles in Slovenia this was worth and very educational. You can find some furniture inside , paintings and learn about many different jobs which were used and trade in nearby city. There was section about how people were doing hats, combs, amazing ethnographic collections. Around you can walk in park and see some wooden houses as... More

We couldn't believe how good this castle and museum was, it's situated on a hill in the lovely village of Skofja Loka where we stayed for 3 nights. There is so much information in English, well done! We walked up but it's possible to drive. We liked it so much that we ran out of time so went back the... More

Škofja Loka Museum is a very nice antropological and exhibition with an accent on local crafts. Appart from that there is a great part of museum which is connected with the local history and notable people who are connected to this little town in Upper Carniolia. Whole city is a museum and therefore is worth of visiting and spending several... More

11th April 2016. Lovely small village on side of hill with a river at its base. We parked in a large car park near the river, crossed the bridge and strolled through the village and up a steepish ascent to the castle (which was closed!). No problem, the views of the rolling countryside all around, with snow capped peaks in... More

You will see more than expected but no special exhibition. This is mixed museum with collection of medieval crafts, some paintings, history of World War II and interesting chapel with some old altars. Entrance fee is low. It is interesting walk from the city up the hill. Interesting old house in the garden was closed during my visit.
