Dear Visitors to Bran Castle,On June 1, 2009, we celebrated the return of the heirs of Princess Ileana with Bran Castle’s rebirth as the first private museum and premiere tourist destination of Romania.June 1st Is the International Day of Children and Bran Castle’s day of revival.Fittingly, we have chosen to celebrate the day with special events for children, so that we may all remain fresh and young at heart.During the past year we have completed refurbishing the Castle, recapturing the spirit of Queen Marie’s favorite retreat and the loved home of her descendents. We have installed easy to read informational plaques and a media room for our visitors. We are currently restoring the park, as well as renovating all the facilities. We are also preparing additional cultural events and entertainment for our visitors.Following the Castle’s change of ownership, director Narcis Ion remained with the Ministry of Culture, but has continued to be our valued advisor. We have welcomed a new group of managing directors: Lia Doru Trandafir, Corin Trandafir, and Alexandru Priscu. We are happy to receive every guest that comes to visit us.Welcome to our castle, our home.Sincerely,Dominic HabsburgMaria-Magdalena HolzhausenElisabeth Sandhofer

This is a picturesque Medieval castle. Simple in style, expect no ornamentation, but really well preserved. We had a private guide which I think was necessary to appreciate the history of the kings and queens who lived here in addition to explanations of numerous artifacts - which would not be that interesting without the background. This also gives real insight... More

We hired Bogdan from Balkan Trails and he was Outstanding. He picked us up and we saw Bran, Brasov and Peles Castle all in a day. Bran's is well maintained and Bogdan gave us the true history of this castle followed by the development of Dracula pop theme.

The castle is well preserved. We visited quite late in the evening and it was not very crowded. We liked very much.

Those who come here in search of Dracula will be disappointed because they will not find him here. There is nothing terrible about seeing the castle, but you can have a pleasant experience, a life-less lesson. I would send those who are looking for Dracula to look for him at Poienari, Targoviste or even Bucharest.

This is a site that you imagine when you think of Transylvania (many of the sites linked to Vlad Tepes are not). In a nice small town, a walk up a steepish hill gets you to the castle and there are steep steps inside (some a little narrow). But it is worth it to see how these fortifications were laid... More

Fabulous place to visit. Nothing like I expected though. It is light and quaint with thousands of steps leafing to lots of small rooms. Lots of information boards in various languages including English. Not suitable for anyone who can't walk or climb stairs. They do allow disabled people in for free. I guess this is because all they can do... More

Was looking forward to seeing a real medieval castle, after getting through the markets and shops the castle stands high on the hillside and looks very imposing. Once inside there are many levels, small winding staircases odd rooms with bits of armour, furniture etc. Our guide had tried to give us the history before we got inside as she had... More

Even though it's not the real Draculas castle, since Vlad Tepes just spent a few nights there once upon time, and in spite of all the tourists the castle is a must. It's by all means a beautiful castle loacated on the top of the hill surrounded by the fantastic landscape of Transylvania. This is the castle Bram Stoker used... More

You'll love it if you love history You'll love it if you love great views You'll love it if you love castles You'll love it if you like the Dracula legends. In short... you'll love it. If not then check your pulse... you may be one of the living dead

Went because it was on the tour, not because it has any real link to the real Dracula, but well worth the visit to the castle that Bram Stoker used as the basis for the fictional characters residence. Very busy, like being in an overly busy Ikea (queue for everything and no chance of stopping to look).
