Great views of the city from the 18th floor of City Hall. For visitors to the city, a map on each side would be a great asset - otherwise you have no idea what you are looking at. Except, of course, the Capitol. We even asked some employees to identify one of the buildings (a circular rusty red roof) but... More

The observation deck at the top of city hall is a must see with panoramic views of RVA. Simply enter city hall from any entrance, go the the elevator, and press the button for OD. One of the top free attractions in RVA. I lived here for almost 40 years before I knew about this and now visit any time... More

We decided to visit this due to the heat outside, it was rather clammy but not as hot as outside. The view is brilliant, and you can walk around the whole floor so can see 360 degrees. This is great for all ages, there are a few tables so you could eat lunch or have a snack here. We had... More

I'll keep this simple- it's easy to find, it's free, and it offers spectacular views of downtown Richmond including the state capitol. The air conditioning is definitely on the weak side, so you may not want to spend more than 10 minutes up there on a skull meltingly hot day but that's all the time you really need. Well worth... Free admission to view the city. Enjoyed the view of the square and especially of old city hall. A must do.

I have lived in the Richmond area for 25 years and have never experienced this amazing view. I loved seeing some of my favorite sites from 'up above'. However, if I was from out of town I would have no idea what I was seeing. A very simple map on each side of the observation deck would make it 5... More

This is well worth at least a quick stop. We went up and enjoyed the magnificent views so much we opted to eat lunch here. My children really enjoyed sitting and talking while looking over the city.

The 360° views of the city and surround counties. Accessible by elevator in the city hall building. Only turn off was the cigarette smoke - this is where all of the smoking employees congregate.

Visiting here one can see the whole of Richmond and surrounding areas. Downtown Richmond is very compact and easily accessed, but looking over the whole of the city it is amazing how far the city stretches in all directions. One can also view many of the famous buildings and monuments from this vantage.

The observation area is very simple. However, if you have a tourist map of downtown Richmond, you can spot several landmarks. It's good for a quick visit. The staff in the lobby was cheerful and helpful.
