Maymont is a 100-acre American estate, an extraordinary gift given to the community by James and Sallie Dooley who lived there from 1893 to 1925. Whether strolling in the gardens, touring the mansion or petting a goat, there is something for everyone to enjoy.

I highly recommend spending time in the "downstairs" area before your tour starts and learning about the system and the people who really made "Maymont" happen. The grounds /home/gardens are lovely, of course, but the signage could be better; we had to pause too many...More

This is not a handicap friendly venue. Quite a grade on paved trails. Tried to walk the grounds around the house and proved too much to push my husband in his wheelchair. Finally just left him parked in the shade and walked down to Italian...More

Maymont is a beautiful and peaceful setting for a nice walk. The animals, gardens and paths are well maintained. When we went in November it was uncrowded and still lovely.

Great place to spend time with family/& friends. You get a good appreciation of the James River! Loved to see the animals in the observatory- especially the snakes.... The walk on the rolling terrain was so relaxing! A go to place when in Richmond!

The sheer options for enjoyment at Maymont can fill two to three trips just to see everything. Make sure you bring some comfortable shoes because the trails lead everywhere and you'll certainly rack up the step count. Also make sure to bring quarters so you...More
