Messy service. Do not trust the leaflet

The organizers ask to book in advance but the phone numbers they provide either are not active or they do not respond. The timetable in the leaflet is different than that presented at the ticket-office. In conclusion, it is very messy.

We had planned to leave Porto San Paolo at 9.30 am, but parking was not easy, so we eventually bought our tickets at 9.28 am and we thought we had alredy missed the 9.30 ferry, but the girl who was in the office phoned the people on the boat, so that they waited for us. Very kind of them. They were all very polite and, in spite of the stormy weather, we had a wonderful time in Tavolara. Well done Tavolara Traghetti e Gite!

Nice but too expensive

We went three days in a row to the island of tavolara using these boats. Place is certainly amazing but prices are really far too high and they don't do discount for families. On the last day, we found out that the nearby rental of Cristian and Alessandro do taxy service on speedboat to tavolara at a lower and more convenient price. We would suggest that option if you want to spare some money...

Buongiorno Claudia S. Il biglietto di €.16,00 andata e ritorno da Porto San.Paolo a Tavolara e viceversa,e compreso di IVA ed e compreso di €.2,00 a passeggero come contributo che va all'Area Marina protetta di Tavolara Punta Coda Cavallo,(contributo dovuto solo per chi ha l'attività di trasporto passeggeri). A Porto San.Paolo come in tutta la Sardegna,non esiste il servizio Taxi ( tipo la laguna di Venezia). Conosciamo Cristiano e Alessandro,che hanno un'attività di noleggio gommoni, E non credo che svolgono questo tipo di servizio,in quanto tutti i noleggi, nell'ordinanza della capitaneria di Porto di Olbia,e nel regolamento dell'area Marina, hanno il divieto di svolgere il servizio di taxi o trasporto passeggeri. Se lei ha usufruito di un servizio taxi per raggiungere l'isola di Tavolara l'ha fatto in maniera abusiva e quindi può anche aver pagato €.1,00 a persona.

lovely trip from pretty harbour

We arrived at 10 on a Saturday, but the next ferry was full so we waited at the coffee bar overlooking the beach for the 11.00. Lovely view over the bay. The boats are solid and they do tend to cram people in, but good value and a nice trip lasting about 30 minutes each way

Basically a beautiful hot desert surrounded by salty green water

The part of the island which is possible to visit on a day trip is the sandy headland. There is no road and I saw people struggling with strollers. Not an ideal place for small kids in my opinion. No shadow.

Lovely water like everywhere in Sardinia.

There are a few cafés and restaurants by the port if you are hungry and have a heavy wallet.

A nice excursion if you are fit and healthy! 16 Euros to and fro.

Wonderful boat trip

Great day on the island with a well run boat trip. On time pleasant staff know what they are doing, trips are going back and forth. You get your tickets from the ticket booth in the car park behind the harbour and beach area. Great to take the family out for the day or just as a couple.

Smooth ferry crossing to a beautiful island

The boat crossing takes about 20 minutes each way. Buy your tickets at the ticket booth in the car park behind the quayside and make sure you arrive at the boat in time to get a seat as no one is allowed to stand for departure and arrival. Tickets cost €16 for a round trip. The crossing is relatively smooth and offers gorgeous views of Tavolara Island on route. Out of season, not all the ferry crossings operate, so check with the ticket office which crossings take place that day. Great photo opportunities, so don’t forget your camera!

Falcone boat trip to Tavolara

Brilliant day out on Tavolara Island. Out of season it was quiet, and the skipper waited whilst we bought our tickets and just caught the 10 a.m. crossing. Great views from the boat. There were only two return trips, so we picked the later time of 16.30, and there was still plenty of room on board. The sea was calm and we had wonderful views, so it was well worth taking the trip for the day.

A nice day out

Tickets are not sold on the boat they have to be purchaced at the Biglietteria or ticket office before boarding. This is located on the car park accessed by either Via Molara or Via Tavolara, turn right off Via Pietro Nenni for both roads. Tickets are 16 Euros, 50% discount children 4-12 and the trip about 20 minutes to the island of Tavolara.
Sailing times are 09.30 10.30 11.30 and 13.30, returning 13.00 15.30 and 16.30.
There is also another excursion calling at the island of Molara for a swim then on to Tavolara. This departs at 09.00 and 09.30 costing 26 Euros with adiscount for children.
The trip itself was quite enjoyable, Tavolara having a long sandy beach and crystal clear water. There's a nice restaurant which we did not try, however a very enjoyable day out particularly as it was a sunny day, not too hot and not crowded.
