Nice and unusual church
Jul 2020 • Family
A very nice and unusual cathedral / church. It is worthy for its specific architecture and its look. The crypt and the hypogeus are free also. The whole visit would be about 10-20 minutes.

Three reasons for creating an unusual visual effect of the Cathedral.
Jul 2019
Strange to say in Trani-this Cathedral must be seen. Is it possible to be in Trani and not see this Cathedral? This Norman Cathedral, completed by the end of the XII century, is visible almost everywhere. Well, unless you can't see it from the train station. The visual effect produced by the Cathedral is explained by three reasons. Location on the shore of the sea. The Cathedral is visually separated from the urban development and is perceived separately. Limestone tuff from the quarries of Trani has a distinctly white color with a pink tinge. This creates an unusual contrast. And finally the bell tower. The Cathedral's Campanile is massive, but does not visually press down on the Cathedral. Taken out to sea with the Cathedral, it resembles a lighthouse. It is very consonant with the Maritime status of the city and the profile of Saint Nicholas the Traveler. (Nicola Pellegrino)..

It was nice to see the old buildings in Trani - very picturesque and close to the harbour/seaside. We loved the experience.

Three churches in one!

In a beautiful spot along the Adriatic Coast sits the massive Trani Cathedral. Get a guide and start from the bottom, then work your way up. So impressive!
