Must visit in Donegal. Took and tour and bought several items, love to see hand weavers and support the local market. Then Killybegs for lunch. Will come back again on our next trip.

Watching the hand weavers is interesting and they are more than happy to answer questions. The clothing items are exceptional and we were able to get a good deal wool knitting yarn.

This shop has been doing hand weaving and garment making since 1979. Tours of the mill are self-guided but the crafts people are willing to explain what they are doing and answer questions. A woman was working on what will eventually be a vibrant-colored throw. We learned that handweaving was the method for making Donegal tweeds and the craft was passed down from one generation to the next. While the tweeds are now made via mechanization of the weaving process, the Studio continues to preserve the skill of handweaving. There is on a shop on the first level to purchase clothing, accessories and skeins of yarn. Interesting and worthwhile stop.

This is our 3rd visit to Studio Donegal and all have been great. They do not offer a formal tour but permit people to visit their weavers while they are working and walk through their operations. It is an authentic visit to see the true Irish weaving process. In addition, their products are superb.

I had come across this company on the internet, looking for rugs for my home. By a happy coincidence, we were passing through Kilcar on a visit to Donegal, and came across their premises. Just delightful. Beautiful hand-loomed products, made on their premises in Kilcar, with the most gorgeous range of colours. If you don't have the opportunity to visit Kilcar, go to the website. You won't be disappointed!

Stopped at this place to look at their woolen goods. Was surprised how receptive they were to allow visitors to watch their weavers and sewers "in action." We got to watch a weaver at the loom; he stopped to talk with us about how he sets up the loom, depending on the pattern chosen by the designer and what he does to take care of the loom so it continues to work so many years after it was made! We saw the stock room full of skeins of wool and stopped by the sewers room to see them putting together a wool men's blazer. Their products are beautiful and the variety of colors is great. We bought 2 pillows and a scarf. The lady at the register recommended us removing the pillow inserts, so we could easily carry them in our suitcase - great idea! Also, she reduced the price of the pillows, since we were not taking the inserts. I was very happy that we got to support a local, family-run, business.

Very friendly reception and free access to see the weavers upstairs in action. The weaver was very informative and showed us the process. Then we went downstairs where the wool is received and carded and made ready for the looms. We were suprised that the wool they use comes from Australia because it is better suited for their weaving. Good selection of scarves, hats etc. Check out the mug rugs.

There's no shortage of woolen shopping in Donegal, but this place is nice. They had some beautiful pieces, plus yarn if you want to make your own sweaters!
