Westchester Lagoon is a good place to go ice skating in the Winter. A fairly large area is usually kept clear of snow for skating. There are also trails nearby (Westchester Creek Trail and Tony Knolls Costal Trail) for hiking or cross-country skiing.

Westchester Lagoon (next to the Coastal Trail a short distance from downtown) is one of Anchorage's most popular spots to enjoy a variety of outdoor activities :)) lots of folks of all ages & abilities congregate here for ice skating atop the cleared & groomed surfaces; two wood-filled barrels are lit to provide warmth for chilly hands. Visited in December with friends for Global Fat Bike Day and test rides. In the winter the lagoon is a great place for skating, cross country skiing, and yes fat biking. You can also access the coastal trail nearby.

Recommended by my b&b, very pleasant nice walk along lagoon and under bridge to ocean where the mountains looked pinkish in the Alaskan light.

This is the location I pick up the Coastal Trail when heading out on a run. Beautiful views, opportunities to see a variety of birds species and salmon, this lagoon is a beautiful place for a picnic, start your walk/run or come to skate during the winter. This area also has a great playground for kids.

This is one of the prettiest places in Anchorage to walk. About 1mile from downtown. Spectacular views at sunset and sunrise

This somewhat manicured spot has a great variety of birds that are within easy photographic range. The Knowles Trail passes alongside the water way so be careful.

Went there for my morning run. I was staying at an Airbnb close by. Great scenery on the morning with fog and ducks flying by.

Westchester Lagoon is in Margaret Eagan Sullivan Park, a lovely city park on the coast of Cook Inlet where the Tony Knowles Trail and the Chester Creek Trails intersect. A playground, disc golf, benches, food vendors and portable toilets are available. The large lagoon attracts a variety of waterfowl. Bus stop nearby at Spenard Rd. and W. 19th Ave.
