'AurorA - Alaska's Great Northern Lights' is a seasonal 100% Alaskan owned, designed and operated presentation open daily from May 24th through September 1st. 'AurorA' is not a "documentary" about aurora. But rather 'AurorA' is a very rare collection of auroral occurrences over many years showing people worldwide what a remarkable natural event the aurora is across the grand night skies of Alaska. Although mostly photographed with high resolution films in the pre-digital age, with recent leaps in High Definition technology, 'AurorA' is now projected in HD Blu-Ray(R) quality. The introduction has a portion of science about aurora but the rest of the show contains stunning images played to original music scores. This is the result of the desire to capture the absolute best auroral displays Alaska has to offer. Having chased aurora across Alaska since early autumn of 1980, I've found it to be the most difficult subject matter and task to be devoted to. There are countless hours in the field, the need for unending patience, more lost sleep than one can even begin to imagine and my 'office' is extremely cold most of the time.

Basically it was a slide show of one artist's aurea borealis photos that he had taken over several years. Very beautiful but after a while a little boring - and I do feel bad for saying that ;-) It's okay, if you have some time and little money to spend. The staff was super helpful!

This was an excellent movie. Located right down town and with frequent showings it makes it an easy attraction to see.

Thanks for coming to my presentation. I'm glad to hear you enjoyed it & certainly appreciate your support. The Alaska Center for the Performing Arts is definitely located in the center of Anchorage & easily accessible. It is a first class venue & is overseen by a fantastic group of people. It is difficult to believe these images were real. The colors and movements were amazing and since I have never seen the Northern Lights, I cannot believe anything like this occurs in nature. After a ten minute intro, there are selections of new age style music paired with unbelievable images. About an hour and we had a coupon so it... More

Yes, they are very real! I am very fortunate to be able to experience such rare beauty in my career. Of course my images are only the "camera's view" of the aurora & are only a portion of what the entire sky looks like with your own eyes. Since you have never seen aurora yourself I highly recommend putting that... More

We paid 12.00 a piece and thought we would be learning something or at least a movie or something interesting.....biggest BIGGEST rip off!!!! SAVE YOUR MONEY!!!! It was like a slide show of lights that someone was lucky enough to sit and wait for the lights. I fell asleep with the music and boring slides. Please please please, save your... More

Sorry you found my 35-year photographic career boring! Perhaps you should make the effort to head out into the sub-zero nights to experience the aurora for yourself? It is quite an eye-opener to view the aurora in all its glory dance across the stars. After several decades in business I have certainly learned that I cannot please all the people... More

This 40 minute movie is well done and very informative. The photographers multi year collection of the aurora in many beautiful locations in Alaska with an introduction showing what causes them.

This guy takes some good pictures, no doubt. The movie talks about it for like 10 minutes. The next hour, was pretty much a screensaver put to music. So if $15 for a cool screensaver is your thing, then have at it. For the Aurora people, I would love to hear more about how he got this pictures. Just watching... More

Happy to hear you likes my rare images. Yes the scientific introduction boils down the basics of auroral formation in a nutshell. Primarily because a large majority of my audience covers many nationalities and such complex science must be explained in simple terms. My show is not an hour & ten minutes long...it is only 40 minutes long. And my... More

Visited Alaska in the summer so no way to see the real northern lights. Decided to try this show as an alternative. It contains truly beautiful pictures of the Aurora tastefully streamed together and choreographed to music. I really enjoyed the show although some younger members of my family were a bit bored. Maybe this show is better suited for... More

Thanks for your support in stopping by to see my presentation "AurorA". Happy to hear you enjoyed it. Yes, I'm aware that the younger generation gets bored easily. My show was never meant to be a "documentary" as the complex physics about aurora is quite a lot more boring to the larger public. Especially since I have clientele from all... More

Glad to hear you enjoyed my rare photography. Thank you for your compliments and your support by coming by. Sorry the tickets seemed "overpriced"...my actual prices are $10, $9 & $7 but the Municipality of Anchorage saw fit to charge a head tax of $3.00 on every ticket sold at the Arts Complex to all patrons 19 years of age...
