We visited the museum in March and they were doing some renovations so some areas weren't open. It was an interesting exhibit but not worth the price of the ticket, unless you have children with you. There are a lot of hands-on experiences for the kids, and there were quite a few groups there doing so.

I took my seven year daughter to this museum for the first time today. FYI, if you are a teacher, you will receive free admission. We both really enjoyed our time here and the highlights for my daughter was seeing the students' artwork on the fourth floor, the exhibit highlighting the relations between Alaska and Russia, and the Discovery Centre... I do not recommend until construction is over. The great history of Alaska exhibit is not available to see while construction is going on.

I love that there is a kid zone tucked in the back. My daughter loved to go explore and play at the museum. She had so much fun through her years of growing up. I also loved the exhibits brought in to the museum. The dinosaurs one which was brought in a long time ago (2011-2012ish) was by far one... More

This was a fairly small, yet expensive museum. Although the artifacts were nice, the high price made me think it was not worth the money compared to the other free museums in town.

My wife and I visited during the final morning of our escorted 'Natural Wonders of Alaska' tour with Titan Travel. We'd spent the night at The Lakefront Anchorage Hotel located on the shores of Lake Hood and conveniently located for the airport and our return flight later that day from Anchorage via Reykjavik, Iceland to London, England. The hotel is... More

I visited the museum on a short stopover in Anchorage. I thought it was excellent in terms of facilities - very nice building, and internally it was everything you'd want from a museum. When I arrived and bought my ticket I was told that they would only charge me $7 for my entry as many exhibitions were not open. This... More

This is a world-class museum. It should be on your itinerary if you are in Anchorage for more than a few hours.

Approx half the museum was closed for changing exhibits when we visited, and they very appropriately charged us half price. My 15 and 18 year olds still had a blast in the science/discovery portion of the museum. I think everyone visiting Anchorage should stop here if they are interested in arctic culture and history.
