Been here multiple times as well as passed by a bunch of times. Never seen a beluga whale and the lighting (except sunrise and sunset) don’t make for very good pictures or snapshots. Further south (towards Kenai Peninsula) have beautiful and picturesque views. Spend your...More

Don't miss it if you pass the Turnagain Arm. Great view of the inlet and the snowy mountain in the far end.

Beluga Point is just a short drive out of Anchorage the drive out of Anchorage and down to Portage is well worth it. High tide is the key to spotting and enjoying the whales. We road by here twice at high tide and were not...More

The rugged coastline of Beluga Point was a sight to behold. In early August, it was very cold and windy. The water looked very silty and was swift moving. On our drive from Anchorage, we didn’t see a single whale. But on the return trip,...More

In the last two weeks the weather has been just stunning, with the occasional day or two of rain. Making a jaunt down to Girdwood is wonderful, with the fall colors, spotting sheep from along the road and taking in the gorgeous sunsets over the...More

We stopped twice at this point. The first time, the weather was so bad and windy that only the children went out for a few seconds. The second time, we had more luck and the view was fantastic. We were even able to spot some...More

This place was beautiful. My husband and I pulled over on our drive south to Seward just to see if we'd have any luck with the whales and we did! Afterwards, we hung out for a little bit and walked around and just soaked in...More

If looking for belugas, make sure either hooligan or coho are running up the Turnagain Arm and that your bore tide has gone or is going in! At low tide, there is too little water for belugas to travel (it gets shallow!). Beluga point is...More

Meh. It wasn't really worth it, but kind of was. We were heading to Seward until when I was doing further research, I found this! I was pumped up, until I noticed it was WAY to windy. You see, white-caps can be EASILY mistaken as...More

Its all about the timing--at the wrong part of the tide cycle, there are no belugas to see...but when the tide is right, we saw several!!! Good area to pull over safely off the highway and park to take photos
