This place was recommended by the Log Cabin Visitor Center and was nearby. We stopped in and once you get passed airport-like security (but with friendly guards) it's really a hidden gem in Anchorage. We watched two of the free movies while we were there...More

We visited particularly to see the movies they play every half hour. We saw the 1964 earthquake movie, and a wildlife movie. The static exhibits are also wonderful, as are the audio learning spots. It is a Federal building, so there is a security check,...More

Located in the Federal Building on 4th and F St. This place has great exhibits of wildlife and historic events. They have National Park Rangers on hand to answer questions. Offer free beautifully filmed short movies about every 20 minutes or so. We saw Bears...More

My wife and I had one day to see Anchorage and much of it was spent in this facility. The free presentations/movies are very well done and informative. You are better off spending time at this facility vs. the Ulu Factory or the Trolley Tour....More

Just across the street from the Visitors Center, this gem is located inside the old Federal Bldg which also houses a court room. That means airport-style security is necessary. Once inside visitors can see mounted Alaskan animals and enjoy an amazing variety of nature tours...More

This was a nice FREE place to stop to get some info as began our Alaska trip. Also, there's a geocache inside if you do geocaching. (our first indoor cache!)

The rangers had lots of information to distribute and if you have time for the walking tour it has some interesting tidbits about Alaska and Anchorage. Some taxidermy displays for the children to identify and get excited about the natural world.
