About
This must-see museum exhibits creative and colorful blown glass sculptures of renowned artist Dale Chihuly. Eight indoor galleries and lush landscaped gardens feature a mix of new and past significant works. They are awe-inspiring whether you visit during the day, or in the evening when the sculptures are lit up. The highlight here is a 100-foot-long glass sculpture suspended in a glass conservatory—one of his largest ever.
Located at the base of the iconic Space Needle, you might want to buy a combined ticket for cost savings or get a Seattle City Pass.

- Michael ULas Vegas, Nevada43,670 contributionsSpendy but worthyAt $35+ per person, plus pricey nearby parking, a visit to Chihuly Garden and Glass needs to be taken in-step with the cost, but in total the gallery checks all the boxes for fans. Born and raised in Washington this location is probably Chihuly's most comprehensive collection as well as the best "story telling" thanks to guides plus live demonstrations. Expect to spend 45-90 minutes depending on level of interest, but do not miss the greenhouse or "Chihuly Over Venice" areas.Visited November 2022Written 17 December 2022
- Mpk1970Sydney, Australia416 contributionsWell worthwhileSounds a bit weird on reading the various blurbs - but get there, you will be blown away. We were a bit daunted by the admission price for a family of 5 but once done, all agreed was money well spent. The art is brilliant and stunningly presented - and if possible, try to time your visit to catch one of the glass blowing demonstrations, as it was a fascinating insight into the process and the skills involved.Visited December 2022Travelled with familyWritten 20 December 2022
- JordanColumbus, Ohio137 contributionsBeautiful, colorful glassworkExcellent collection of Chihuly's work. I've seen some of his pieces elsewhere but this place was so comprehensive likely given that his birthplace was nearby Tacoma. There are both indoor and outdoor displays showcasing the organic glass forms. My husband and I bought an affordable package with tickets to this place and the Space Needle.Visited September 2022Travelled as a coupleWritten 4 January 2023
- dctravelWashington DC, District of Columbia2,272 contributionsA Hit Will All AgesMy famly (2 adults, a 15 yo, and a 11 yo) all loved Chihuly. We used City Pass tickets for the garden and wasn't sure how the 11 yo would feel about it. They loved it just as much as everyone else. Dale Chihuly is amazingly talented. We loved taking pictures and watching the live glass blowing demonstration that took place in the Garden courtyard. I would recommend this to anyone!Visited December 2022Written 7 January 2023
- Douglas B54 contributionsVery neat museum.Don't plan on spending a lot of time in this museum. We went on Thursday afternoon in November and while it was well attended, it was not crowded and moved very quickly. Go ahead and schedule the rest of the museums and attractions in the area for the same day.Visited November 2022Written 8 January 2023
- George R21 contributionsUnique Glass SculpturesVisited this venue as it is next door to the Space Needle, and we able to book both sights at same time online. Totally unprepared for what we saw. Huge displays of sculpted glass arranged in pyramids, chandeliers and free-standing exhibits. Spent almost two hours enjoying displays. Also watched six short but informative films about the man and his glass. Watched outdoor demonstration of glass making. Facility has large store with numerous items for sale.Visited December 2022Written 14 January 2023
- Von1287Albany, New York771 contributionsFascinatingHighly recommend this place! I love all things blown glass and this was fascinating! So much to see and lots of cool iterations, you never get bored of it. Try to sit a bit in a room to get some time alone with the pieces! We enjoyed this trip a lot and would highly recommend.Visited September 2022Written 3 February 2023

- lrickd2023Tacoma, Washington2 contributionsA "must see" for any visit to SeattleI'm from Tacoma, Chihuly's hometown, and have visited his museum in Tacoma, which is a terrific place. With that being said, I wholeheartedly endorse a trip to his Garden and Glass Museum in Seattle, even if you've seen his work somewhere else before. Visited there with my wife as part of our 50th Anniversary "staycation" in Seattle and enjoyed every minute of it. It's simply impossible not to be in awe of his work.Visited February 2023Written 7 February 2023
- 2jenlinFort Worth, Texas18 contributionsamazing glass and artIt's like being Alice in wonderland. Fantastic, other worldly glass creations. Your mind will be blown by the size and beauty of the blown glass. My kids took hundreds of pictures and enjoyed the live glass blowing demo. Inside and outside it was amazing. Loved it!!!Visited December 2022Written 15 February 2023

Wow! I wasn't able to stop taking photos of everything I saw. The glass sculptures are located both inside and outside in the garden as the name implies. Completely spectacular.

We were specifically to see the Winter Brilliance display which was hyped to be a lot more than it is. It is one window with glass snow flakes that were impressive but not as expansive as intimated from the description.

I first/last visited here ten years ago and I can't tell if it's changed but, as it was fabulous then, so it is now. I used my Seattle CityPASS to enter and joined the throngs late on a Friday afternoon wandering through the eight galleries, glasshouse and outside int the gardens, marvelling at how all of that glass came to be and then suspended above and gathered around us.
He's a unique talent and I've seen his work in countless hotels and museums all over the country.
Coming here, to his passion project in his home state, is well worth it. I combined the visit with the Space Needle which looms overhead.
A definite Seattle Must Do!

Amazing! Must see! Stunning beauty! I am just baffled at how they get the colors and textures and shapes from glass. To see how it starts to how it finishes is just incredible.

Not to be missed if you’re in the Seattle area.
Chihuly Garden and Glass is a magical and enchanting place.
It’s difficult to imagine how these tremendous, elaborate pieces were placed into this building.
The pieces shown here are captivating. They have movement, as they are still, and they will move you.
Dale Chihuly will always be the master of glass.

I have seen chihulys art work before and fell in love with all of them. But this exhibit on particular is my absolute favorite!!! There are sculptures that will take your breath away, and his talent is unmistakable! I was lucky to arrive on a day that there was a tour guide that was taking the group all around the whole exhibit and told us about this pieces and about chihuly himself. There was also a in person demonstration where everyone got to see the process of creating blown glass, which was a case in that demonstration. The gift shop was expensive in my opinion but they had some wonderful and beautiful things to purchase of money isn’t an issue for someone. Even though I went by myself I thoroughly enjoyed myself, and would highly recommend anyone in the area who loves art to definitely check out this exhibit.

Do I need to purchase tickets in advance

Depending on the time of day it can be quite busy, but there is lots to see nearby too. We did not purchase in advance and only had to wait 10 minutes. Don’t forget to do the Chihuly gardens at the end of the inside gallery. Good luck.

I believe you do if you purchased them from the facility. Check the website where you made the purchase, it should have a FAQ that addresses your question.

How strict is the timed ticket? Can you arrive after your ticket time?
crmimi
Boston, Massachusetts12 contributions
There is no timed ticket per se. You click on the time that you are buying your ticket if you use the kiosk outside. You go in and stay as long as you like. I would say 2 hours is not an unusual amount of time especially if you watch the videos of him and his getting ready for some of his major exhibitions. There are some unusual pieces in the garden. There is also a small cafe. I thoroughly enjoyed the time there. If you like Chihuly's work then this is a must see.

Yes? There is wheelchair access as much as
I remeber. We had an "opening party " and it was a bit cramped, but still handicapped access was available.
In general, there is plenty of room, just not at exactly that time!

How time should one set aside for this attraction? We are going to come here and the space needle.

If the weather is nice, you might want to plan a whole morning or afternoon to see both. If visibility is poor, you wouldn't want to
spend a great deal of time at the Space Needle and part of the Chihuly is outside. Plan according to weather.

We would not want a city tour but just want to park and see the glass exhibits and gardens. Where is the best location to park and how much is an admission ticket for just this attraction

Does anyone remember what time Chihuly opened during the summer? (July)... i know the space needle opens at 8am and i have read some reviews that say ppl went to the space needle at 8am then chihuly and were done by 1030am. However, right now both the space needle and Chihuly are only showing winter hours. Please let me know for anyone that remembers. I am trying to book a different tour for later in the day but need to know when I would be done with Chihuly. Thanks!

You can go through as quickly as probably 30 minutes if you wanted, but you'll want to linger much, much longer.
I would guess that we spent at least 2 hours in Chihuly. It is so very worth taking the time!
There are also videos towards to end if you'd like to watch them. We watched just a couple and they were probably 5- 10 minutes each????
Space Needle is a bit of a snore to me. You go up to the top and walk around and look at the skyline. But you must go if you're in Seattle.
We enjoyed Smith Tower as much and you get a different view of the city.
Can I be allowed to shoot a music video in there

They allow you to take lots of photos and let you take as much time as you need. I'm sure if you ask they will be glad to help you out. I believe they actually rent out the venue for weddings and special events.
