Beautiful popular beach with 0.5 miles of beachfront viewing the Olympic mountains to the West and Seattle to the East. We enjoyed a small group walk after lunch at Cactus. Alki is one of my favorite beaches. The view of downtown Seattle is spectacular and the beach is a nice sandy beach. There are lots of great restaurants in the area.

Despite it being winter, there were still a number of people out, and even quite a few playing volleyball at the public volleyball nets. The path behind the beach offers good space for walking and cycling/skating and is lined by lots of little shops and eateries; we stopped at Starbucks for a coffee and a rest. At the southern end of the beach there is a lighthouse which is worth walking to, although it isn't that impressive. The views in general from the beach are quite nice and I would definitely like to return in the summer if I can.…
