SAM has been the center for world-class visual arts in the Pacific Northwest since 1933. Visit SAM to see a museum carved into the city, as much a part of Seattle's landscape and personality as the coffee, rain, mountains, Pike Place Market, and the Space Needle. Our three distinct locations celebrate the region's position as a crossroads where east meets west, urban meets natural, local meets global. Our collections, installations, special exhibitions, and programs feature art from around the world and build bridges between cultures and centuries.

We traveled all the way from New Hampshire to see Yayoi Kusama and want to thank you for making it easy for us to get tickets, after a horrible experience with the Hirshhorn Museum in Washington D.C., where we traveled to see the exhibit but...More

We stopped in to see him his museum. The First Nation and African mask collections were worth the stop. I was dazzled by the European porcelain room, well done and the mirrors/lighting are awesome. Go!

Starting October 1st, this show will move to the Dallas Museum of Art. I was fortunate to go with a member during a Sunday night open call. If there were a downside of the evening exhibit, it is that the rest of the museum is...More

My sister and I were very excited to visit SAM. We made our donation and made our way up to the third floor. We enjoyed the Greek vases, and the African masks but we had a feeling that we were being followed. We started to...More

We were told that the special exhibition by the Chinese artist was very heavily booked and sure enough there was a large queue. As we hadn't visited this gallery before we decided to view the main permanent galleries. We were not disappointed with the quality...More

They have a lot of beautiful pieces at this museum. I am a lover of monet and impressionists. They have a Monet and a Matisse. It was well worth the donation. The parking is an issue but worth the park and walk.

I have to be fair in my comments, and here's why: Consider that it's Seattle, representation of North West Native art is good. But I've seen bigger and more variety in Vancouver BC. In terms of international art, it falls short because I've being to...More

My friend and I came for the Yahoi Kasuma exhibit. We found the staff to be very friendly, helpful, and organized in managing the hundreds of people waiting to get in. Of course the exhibit was amazing but there is a lot to the regular...More

Enjoyed the museum after-hours for the Yayoi Kusama. Fun and colorful exhibit with reflection mirror rooms. The museum staff were friendly, even working late hours to provide more viewing hours for the Kusama show. I look forward to returning to see more of the museum...More

Being from Seattle, I really want to love SAM, but often leave unimpressed. I am a member, but mostly for the special members only events and to see special traveling exhibits. We recently attended to see the Infinity of Mirrors/Kasuma exhibit. On the onset, I...More

We only had an hour, 90 minutes would have been less of a rush. Two hours would have been too much.

Hi Lee: Great question! Senior rates are $17.95 for guests 62 and over and on the first Friday of each month seniors are free to our collection and special exhibitions are half price. We hope you come visit SAM soon.
