We had a quick stop off here for a photo opportunity on our way back from a tour. It was incredibly beautiful and unspoilt.

It's a bit of a steep climb but some nice views around the lake. You can complete the circuit in a couple of hours. No toilets or water so go prepared.

A long time the hike is really moody, especially after rain. But in the upper part it's getting better and the view is just amazing. The lake has a really nice color and the whole surroundings are just beautiful.

Perfect place for hiking, amazing view, natural wild life all over. Don't miss to go in the water. And never ever dare to feed a bear

Great walk with some fantastic views. However, it is one of the steepest hikes I've ever made. My wife went for a swim when we got to the top, but that looked pretty chilly.

Most people only make it to the lower Dewey Lake, but if you're in shape you can make it to upper Dewey Lake. It took us almost 7 hours to make the roundtrip hike with a family ranging in age from 6 to 69. We...More

Very beautiful views but you would need transportation from the ship to get there. Down dirt road and local homes could use some upgrades. If you miss it you will live, but if you have transportation, certainly worth the few miles to visit.

This is a steep hike, but doable if you are in reasonably good shape, my 11 year old boy had a great time and didn't complain at all. We kept going to the Devil's Punchbowl, the views were amazing. There was ample snow along the...More

Most incredible thing we did in Alaska all week. There aren't any words to describe how beautiful Upper Dewey Lake is. It's a 2.0+ mile intense climb but it's worth it. Bring a walking stick or borrow one of the ones left at the trailhead...More

It was a good workout but worth the effort. Some parts were tough and challenging. Hiking boots and poles helped. Beautiful lake, peaceful, lovely scenery. Good for the nature lovers. Bring water!

Perhaps check out the Alaska Fish and Game website about their requirements and if they issues a one day license. Also, when we were there the tourist bureau was very helpful. Check with them about fishing as well. We ended... More
