Join us on the Chilkoot Trail Hike and Float as you retrace the steps of the gold seekers of 1898 on the Historic Chilkoot Trail. You will begin your journey in Skagway with a 20min drive out to the Chilkoot Trail head. From there you will embark on a 2 mile hike (350 ft elevation gain) lead by our very knowledgeable guides, as they tell you stories of the gold rush, point out flora and fauna along the trail, and look for signs of wildlife. Once your hike is complete, you will enjoy a scenic float on our 18ft ore framed rafts down the Taiya river (no white water). Once at the take out, enjoy warm beverages and a snack before heading back to town.

After our guide, Alex S., picked us up at the cruise ship, we had a nice tour through town before proceeding to the trail head for the Chilkoot Trail. From there, we had a beautiful two-mile hike through the dense mountain forest. We then had...More

We booked this as an excursion during our Alaska cruise: two non-hiker parents and two very active teens. Be forewarned: the hike part is no joke; the first 45 minutes are strenuous and serious. But, our guide, John, made it possible for even the least...More

This is a hike and float--and a great way to get some exercise. The hike is 1.7 miles (although I truly believe miles are longer in Alaska than in the rest of the states) and took us more than an hour. It is rugged terrain...More

My favorite excursion on our NCL Jewel cruise through the Inside Passage. Same is an exceptional guide that made the hike/float both enjoyable and educational. She is friendly, courteous and extremely knowledgeable about the area. I highly recommend this tour...ask for Sam.

There is more benefit to doing this hike in a smaller group. That way it also becomes a better learning experience too. The guides are well-trained and very knowledgeable about the Alaskan ecosystem too. I book groups trips... More

I believe you could. But They said they would like to have a group less than 10. You may negotiate with them before you sign up. I hope they accommodate your request! Good luck!

NO, not even close. Its a short 2 mile hike. The full trail is a major multi day undertaking. This was an enjoyable cruise excursion!!
