About
TOUR INCLUDES: All-you-can-eat fire grilled salmon and accompanying menu items, access to Liarsville historic exhibits, live melodrama and entertainment, gold panning and all the gold you discover. Round-trip transfer from cruise ship dock. FULL DESCRIPTION: At the foot of the White Pass, nestled beside a waterfall, discover Liarsville Gold Rush Trail Camp and Salmon Bake, so named for the journalists dispatched to Alaska during the Klondike Gold Rush who fabricated tall-tales from this very location. Your Liarsville experience begins with an all-you-can-eat alfresco feast in the forest that includes WILD Alaskan-caught salmon freshly grilled over an alder wood fire, Chilkoot Chicken, Panners Pasta, Liarsville Rice Medley, Prospector Pete's Reindeer Beans, Sluice Box Slaw and other fresh salads, cornbread, coffee, lemonade, and blueberry cake for dessert. Beer and wine are available for purchase. After your meal, mosey on over to our gold rush era trail camp. Here, you'll enjoy the waterfall and the authentic exhibits of Liarsville. Browse for souvenirs in the Fancy Goods Gift Shop. In the Hippodrome a cast of sourdoughs and dance hall girls will entertain you with a hilarious melodrama and a poem by the "Bard of the North," Robert Service. You'll be taught the art of gold panning, then be set free in the Liarsville gold fields, where you are guaranteed to find that precious metal that drove men and women wild with gold fever! You are guaranteed to find gold in every pan! Once you've made your fortune, take time to wander through the camp and visit the Fancy Goods store, bordello and laundry tents to view the antiques and vintage clothing left behind by the miners and ladies of the evening. Help yourself to complimentary cookies and apple cider and have your picture taken with one of the dance hall girls or the camp's lovable mascot, an Alaskan malamute named Dolly.

Fun gold panning. Dramatic actresses
Sep 2019
Liarsville was one of the stop on a group tour we booked while in port. It was cute. Lots of people dressed up and acting like they were in a Klondike Camp. The one lady differently was over dramatic but it was really fun to walk around. Still very entertaining. We were mostly there to go golf panning but there was many other things you can do here as well. It was really fun to gold pan, kids would love it but as adults we did as well. Everyone seems to go home with a few gold flakes.

Best excursion in skagway
Dec 2018
Ive been to liarsville twice as part of a salmon back excursion from cruises in august 2006 and july 2010. The show is great, the Salmon is fantastic, and you even get to learn how to use a gold pan. Took my eldest son and daughter along with oldest grandson on the second trip and they loved it too.

Dry Salmon and a show with too many sexual innuendos.
Aug 2019
The woman singing during dinner had a beautiful voice. Salmon Bake had same side dishes as the bake in Junuea. The sides were Not good at this location. Baked beans no depth of flavor, dried up potatoes, dry coleslaw, dry corn bread and soggy caesar salad. Over baked salmon with brown sugar. After dinner, walk over to the Liarsville Camp. Some interresting artifacts. The show was Not enjoyable for our group. Felt bad for the families with younger children. A waste of good Alaska time.

Great concept - poorly executed
Sep 2019
I expected more. The food was cold and the selection was sparse. While others said the salmon was good, the chicken was bad, the baked beans were canned and the dessert did not look appealing. As others have mentioned the water and lemonade stand was surrounded by bees. Next came the 2 man show that just wasn't needed. The male performer seemed to put more effort in the show then the female. The overall content was boring and the "poem" was way too long. Once that finally ended, the gold panning part started and it's not really worth all the effort. As someone who works in the tourism industry - this felt like a very cheap attempt at a really good concept. I'd suggest skipping this one unless its free.

Lunch and Gold Panning
Sep 2019
This was part of the Best of Skagway tour offered by the Disney Wonder. Lunch was okay. Salmon was cooked on the grill and it was overcooked but the glaze help add some moisture. Only Chicken offered was chicken legs. Lunch was filling. Drink Station had so many bees it was difficult to get a drink. The Liarsville Village is a re-creation of a gold mining camp. It was somewhat interesting. The show that was offered was cheesy. Gold panning was a joke. Each guest was given a pan that contained a flake or two of gold and a hefty scoop of dirt and gravel. There was a demonstration on how to get remove the dirt and gravel to reach the gold. It was a lot of work and little reward. Makes you wonder how the gold miners did this day in and day out.

A lot of fun and very informative
Sep 2019 • Couples
My wife and I were on an Alaskan cruise when we took an organised trip to Liarsville, not far from Skagway, which was the gateway to the Klondike gold stampede. They have recreated part of the once-immense tent city, with actors playing various roles. You learn a lot just looking at the contents of the various tents and the actors tell you a lot more in the show. The show is very amusing too. To finish off, you get a try at panning for gold. They’ve planted several small gold bits in each dish and you get to keep that gold. It’s really enjoyable. Of course, as they told us, there was no gold found in Skagway as such, but what the heck.

Tent city and salmon bake
Jul 2019
The tent city was a stop on our cruise tour after the Yukon Bridge. We had the salmon bake lunch and it was very good. The tent city was small but a fun representation of back in the days of the gold rush. There was a small stream for gold panning represented there also (it was not part of our paid tour), and a log cabin gift shop that was well stocked. Lots of great photo ops.

Inappropriate Show for Children
Aug 2019 • Family
As part of a Disney cruise excursion, our family of 5 visited the Trail Camp after the Skagway rail car. The appeal was mostly to pan for gold. However, we knew there would be a show and I was thinking more along the lines of the Hoop Dee Doo Revue in Orlando with silly jokes while learning about the area. Instead, we had an ear curling version of “You are my sunshine” sung by a large woman with her breasts hanging out followed by a “romantic poem” about a frozen guy dying who got sawed into pieces to fit in his coffin. Coming from a Disney Cruise, there were many children in the audience. Completely inappropriate. Learn your audience and accommodate accordingly.

Baked Salmon! Yum!
Jul 2019 • Couples
We arrived here after our train ride to a yummy Salmon Bake. The salmon was topped off with a brown sugar sauce. Yum! Unusual. Was we finished our lunch we then watched a show whereby they use comedy to tell the tail of the Klondike.
After the show it is off to pan for gold, as gold mining was done in this area you are given a pan with some dirt in it to pan. You will find a few flakes of gold to take home.
A bit of fun!

Disappointing
Jul 2019 • Friends
We were quite disappointed with this tour, as I had expected more from it based on the price. It was much smaller than I was expecting, and I found it all over the top and corny. The tents set up with the artifacts were interesting to look at, but I had hoped to see more and that there would be more staff/actors around explaining what life was like back then. I found the show mediocre. They attempted to highlight some of the history, which was appreciated and I enjoyed the song they performed, but the rest was over exaggerated and crude/sexual jokes. The gold panning experience was fun (even though it had started raining) but I found the girl explaining it to be a little rude and unhelpful as we were trying to figure out the technique.
