Must see the world champion of Ironman race in this week! It was really excited at every booth, there are finalists in some sponsor booths at the beginning of the week, they are very friendly and fun. "Swim 2.4miles, Bike 112miles, Run 26.2miles brag for the rest of your life"

This pier brings back memories. Going out on a military boat to Honolulu. Going on some of the cruise ships, Out to sea to scatter the remains of a friend who lost his life in an accident... the list goes on.

I wasn't interested in all the land activities here, but the open water swim course is great. There are buoys marking the 1.2 mile round trip, and the boats (generally) stay away from there. Great opportunity to swim in crystal clear water with fish and coral and even stingrays! Seems busiest in the morning. When I arrived at 9:30am, the... More

Avoid this place when a cruise ship is in port, since this is where the tenders land. In fact, if you can, avoid Kona when a cruise ship is in port. Restaurants and shops are packed with folks off the ship. Much better to look at cruise ship schedules and find when to avoid. Nice view in any case!

During the daytime, the Kona Pier hosts all manner of water activities (including shore landings of cruise ship tourists)... we like to come here during the quieter evening hours, to enjoy the warm sea breeze, the lights along Ali'i Drive, and the schools of fish attracted by the overhead lamps... a nice spot for couples, friends, or just solo indeed... Not sure how you rate a pier. Lots of boats, and on Wednesdays, cruise ship tenders. Is fun to hang around and see the people and boats. Couple of small beaches on each side. Very first time there many years ago, saw a caught sword fish hanging. That was cool. Have never seen one since so if you do see... More

The views from here are awesome and so beautiful! There's a great bay right next to it and people snorkel there to see fish and more all the time.

Saw a ton of fish, people had seen manta rays. Need to swim off of beach behind King Kamehameha hotel and go to right to avoid boats. Was surgy that day and felt like it would have been safe to bring inexperienced snorkelers.

It's the pier in Kona where you get on/off boats. Not sure why we are even reviewing this. Most of the positive reviews are reviewing things that aren't part of the pier. As a pier its ok, but nothing exciting. Restroom is stinky. NO reason to go here unless you are boarding/disembarking one of the boats in the harbor.

At first glance it just looks like a pier, with a boat or two tied up, people mingling etc. But get out and walk around.. the right side has a small little bay and grassy area great for the kids to play in the shallow water or for a family picnic. Ancient history is kept alive along the path with... More
