Sea turtles and beautiful views

Beautiful sandy beach of white sand and gentle surf. Sea turtles on the beach and swimming in the cove. We were there at dusk.

If you are looking to get away from the crowds of people this is it. Once you leave the main road it is a very rough drive through a lava rock field. You don't need 4 wheel drive but a SUV or something with high ground clearance is advised. This goat path of a road is about a 15-20 minute... More

We went when it was windy in Waikoloa bc it is sheltered by trees. Waves can still get pretty big. The road in is super 4x4 and the parking can be quite busy. We really liked this beach though!

I have spent many weeks at this secluded beach and know some of its history. What makes it special is the brackish water that fills up the bay. There are lava tubes that allow rain water to flow through the coarse white sand and lesson the salt content. It is delightful to swim and the water is so clear! All... More

That perfect crescent of white sand with palm trees to give some shade if you need it. Well worth the slow ride in from the highway and it's no problem to find your own nice piece of the beach, especially on weekdays. One of our favourites!

fantastic place, well worth the walk and the bumpy drive to get there. We went on a rainy day and it was still amazing!

The lava road can be travelled by any car just go slow (Jeep or SUV ideal as there are lots of ruts). We were only able to snorkel briefly as the current was too strong the day we visited, however we heard it was usually calm and a great snorkel spot. We also took the lava path to Maka beach... With a sandy beach and a sandy bottom, a nice surf break, and clean facilities, this is by far our favorite beach on the island. Go during the week and get there early if you want to park near the access. The only negatives are a tricky short hike to the sand, and no lifeguards.

Beach is nice, but keep walking 20 mins through the hot lava field for sand dunes and an unbelievable beach that is the softest sand i've ever laid my feet upon.

Sheet balls. Best beach ever. No one there. Driving over ancient Pahoehoe. Need 4x4. Cried leaving. Magical. Every other life experience results in suicide. Heaven.
