Up county, one of the few roads that go around a significant part of the Big Island. Enjoy the ride.

This is a main road on the Big Island. Not sure if it goes all the way around, but it's a main artery from the airport, through Kailua-Kona, and through to Volcanoes Nat'l Park.

Smooth drive and enjoyable. We love the big Island and look forward to making a trip around the island each time we visit.

Took this route several times to access points of interest to the north and east coast. There is less traffic than on Hwy. 19 and the views towards the west coast are good.

Great views...make sure you have a full tank of gas and some food and water. Road gets very dark at night and if it's cloudy your visibility will be limited, but definitely worth the trip.

This stretch of road has really been improved but could use an increase in the speed limits in many areas. Some areas are 35 MPH when they could easily be 55MPH. Scenic, nice drive.
