We loved going to this beach area. It was quite close to our condo hotel. There was lots of space for sunbathing. The huge waves were great for surfing and body surfing, as long as you are careful. Parking our vehicle was not a problem.

Lava rocks or sand this is one of our favorite easy access beaches on the big island! During the winter months there's more lava rock then sand so just be aware! On our last visit we were swimming with two beautiful turtles (you can look but don't touch)!

Recently the bad weather created some large swells which took practically all of the sand off of this beach. It is now a rocky beach with overhead waves that will kill you. If you planned a vacation in this area and the beach is important to you you might want to call someone to find out if it's actually there... More

If you are looking for that white sand beach on the Big Island, go to Hapuna beach. Great for walking in surf, and boogie boarding, has lifeguards, picnic areas, facilities to change and parking. The parking is $5 since run by state, but the only money you need to pay to see this beautiful beach.

A great public beach, nice area to swim or picnic. Not very crowded when we went, fairly early 9-10 am.

We rented a condo here for 2 weeks and it was fabulous. Strong currents can be a problem in the Winter and some sand was gone from the beach the next day. It started to come back after a few days. Watch out for underwater rocks if your body surfing or you will have a few black and blue marks... More

Very pretty beach. The day we went the beach was closed due to the very high surf. We hadn't intended to swim, so we were just fine with sitting and watching those amazingly huge waves come crashing in. It made for some awesome photos. Restrooms were basic, but fairly clean. Nice sheltered areas for picnics.

This is a truly beautiful beach with good size waves (depending on the time of year). I have been to this beach in April, August, September and October and the waves tend to get bigger towards the fall and winter months. This beach is also known as Magic Sands Beach, because the sand will completely disappear with out warning and... More
