If you love to drive mountain passes then should drive on this pass as well. Road is great with amazing views. Even the road to reach the toll plaza (coming from Austrian side) is ery entertaining. At the toll plaza there is a Motorbike museum, ticket was around 10€ (we did not visit the museum). Nice weather is must for... More

In October, we drove over the mountain pass (aka Passo del Rombo in Italian), which was still open. Because of the dense fog it was a thrilling ride and unfortunately sometimes limited the view to just a few meters. Still it was a beautiful experience!

Passage from Austria to Italy. High in the mountains with spectacular views and nice works of art. A little expensive maybe: 16 euro for a car (single trip)

As you would imagine views are fantastic. Easy to get to from Solden where we stayed we were on our way to Italy. Summit a bit hap hazard with some off the wall sculptures. Very good exhibition on the building of the road. Ate the worst food in Austria or Italy (depending which side of the border I was) there... More

If you ever drive to Italy from Austria or vice versa don't cheat yourself for this trip through the Timmelsjoch pass via via Ötztal. Narrow roads and some really amazing views - bring lunch and stop somewhere and enjoy it and the views. Do remember cash for the toll road - no cards accepted last time I did the trip... More

This was the first pass we went through on a group two week driving holiday and, a sit turned out, one of the best. Wether your transport of choice is a bike, motor bike or car there are plenty of challenges and thrills for all here. The pass is also punctuated by a museum and some breathtaking architectural viewing platforms.... More

Give this a try - some 60 bends on this pass make for a fantastic time, most people are using the pass for enjoyment so the driving is good although a little busy at times. A great experience, I am so glad I did not miss. Don't be put off - if your are a reasonably confident driver you will... More

Both the Austrian and the Italian side provide wonderful vistas and sharp hairpin turns. The views from the top are also gorgeous so this is a great drive for looking at the stunning Alps.

Pay your fee at the top and enjoy the view as you drive over the mountain Smugglers Route. Narrow 2 lane twisty road on Italian side. Austrian side very good wide road. Bike or Convertible Paradise as you look into deep valleys below.

I enjoyed the drive (12km) and we stopped at several places through from Austria to Italy to take pictures of the view and enjoy the sound of the cowbells. We ended up arriving at the toll fairly late on in the afternoon (5pm), so didn't have much time before the road closed for the evening (8pm). We opted for the... More
