Cool statue for taking photos. Looks like part of the teeth need dental work :) You will pass this on the way to the Marantha Baptist Church where Jimmy Carter still teaches Sunday School.

This was a fun photo opportunity stop. The kids thought it was hilarious, and it's near Maranatha Baptist Church, right on the side of the road. Definitely stop and take a picture. How often do you see something like this?!

This is a fun place to visit in Plains, especially for children. My grandsons got a real kick out of it. The statue is next to a small convenience store. The gentleman working there was friendly. It is a good place to get a snack. It is also one of the stops on the scavenger hunt that originates at the... More

This smiling peanut was used during a Jimmy Carter Presidential Rally in Evansville, Indiana. It was brought to Plains, GA in '76. Nothing to read, or do with it except take a photo and go into the gas station to have your Passport book stamped! Fun site.

President Carter apparently hates this thing (it's not very flattering, is it?), but the peanut selfie is a must when you're leaving Maranatha Baptist Church or just visiting Plains. Be careful - there's a fire ant hill right next to it.

Who doesn't like a giant smiling peanut? This is one of those click, "I was at the smiling peanut" stops. You'll spend all of about 5 minutes at it (unless of course, you wander into the convenience store). As far as roadside kitsch goes, this one is aces.

We just had to stop and have our picture taken with the peanut statue while visiting Plains. It's on the right as you drive from downtown Plains towards Maranatha Baptist Church. Of course you can't miss it! Who doesn't love a giant peanut?!
