We enjoyed driving Needles highway to the lake, and then we enjoyed hiking the Sunday Gulch Trail. We started the trail counter-clockwise which was very helpful to the ice that was still present on our warm Spring day. This lake and hike were highlights of our trip!

We were there when snow was still on ground but it was a beautiful area and had a nice lodge there as well.

We were referred here by a local who said this was one of his favorite places growing up.. I'm so glad he suggested seeing this place. So beautiful. We came here on a little bit of a misty, overcast day.. It made for a really picturesque, serene visit.. I felt like a loch ness monster was about to peek up... More

I just stopped by to snap a few photos, so I can't vouch for the lodge or campgrounds, but the views alone were well worth the visit. I'll definitely be coming back to South Dakota, and when I do, I'll be visiting Sylvan Lake again.

We rented a cottage for two weeks which was a block away from the lake near to the gas station. I admit we had to check the place before booking , but we trusted the manager Mandy Fullerton that everything is ready for our arrival. The cottage was terrible - dirty, ton of dust, terrible smell, pictures sticking to the... More

We drove around this during our trip to the park and we took a helicopter ride over it as well. What a beautiful peaceful spot. You can see the stone spires around it from a few different drives on this side of the park.

I am so glad we stopped here! Besides Badlands National Park, this was our other highlight to our Mt Rushmore trip. Spend a full sunny day here minimum to capture just part of this place

A lovely, picturesque lake with rocks jutting out of the water. It's a great place for a picnic and has an excellent walking trail around the lake. Take time to enjoy watching the birds and the fish jumping. Fishing and boating are available too.

Has a gift shop. Docks to fish on. Trail around part of lake. Didn't stay at cabin. Just along needles eye road. Saw fish jump. Just walked along gravel path. Pretty.
