Sylvan Lake is a beautiful lake nestled into the Black Hills. It is unique in that the west end of the lake is massive boulders that form a type of dam. We visited Sylvan Lake in the Spring and the lake was almost completely covered...More

This is our favorite lake to visit! I enjoy the hike around it, and the beauty of the lake and surrounding rocks! Been coming here for years, and is a favorite spot for our whole extended family. So much that when my niece unexpectedly passed...More

Beautiful lake! Nice beach area to take a swim! Not very big but we still enjoyed canoeing! Nice place for a wedding

This is such a beautiful lake. It's so very different than other places I've ever visited because of the unusual rock formations that surround the lake. We hiked all around the lake which was really cool because you could see it from various angles and...More

This is a beautiful lake with boulders sticking out of it and great views. There is a walking trail around it which we were not able to take and it would be a great place for a picnic.

After riding the Needles on motorcycles its fun to stop at Sylvan lake to get a burger and a beer and then take a leisurely hike around the lake. Haven't tried swimming cause I like warmer water. Views are cool and hiking trails meet whatever...More

This is a fun place for a short hike, a swim, or just to hang out. There is not much parking and the food options are limited

Best local fishing hole and most scenic lake anywhere. Catch your limit with a lead weight two feet down the leader, small treble hook and power bait, corn or salmon eggs on the hook so it floats off the bottom. Worms are great, too. They...More

I stopped to take in the winter views and do some snow shoeing. It was perfect. There were people ice fishing on the lake and a few hikers. The day was gorgeous with crystal clear blue skies. Just perfect to take it all in. The...More

We went right around the Fourth of July 2017. This is just a gorgeous drive- take advantage of the stops & take pictures. It was VERY crowded over the holiday weekend and you will find parking tight around the lake. Take your suit and a...More

It’s not a very long walk around the lake! You can do it fairly quickly! But I would plan on an hour! Nice general store with refreshments, canoeing if you want! Depending on time of year, best place to swim in the park... More

The Sylvan Lake Lodge has cabins to rent but it's not right on Sylvan Lake itself, but close by. Check it out, it's still an amazing location!
