We spent one day in Tikal which is a much larger site, but this archeological site is more remote and smaller but really interesting. We approached it by boat across a lake that has alligators or crocs in it so we were glad that we...More

A nice two hours away from the beaten path. Normally a fraction of Peten visitors venture to Yaxha and only a fraction of this fraction will further explore Topoxte. The ruins are small but the journey to the small islet is much fun thanks to...More

Accessible by boat, the site is interesting and worth visiting. Only a small part has been restored and they are working on it. The stele are beautiful and the local wildlife contributes to the enjoyment of the area.

Pleasant 15 minute boat ride to view a few temples. Remoteness is definitely part of the attraction. Howler monkeys were the only other "visitors" when we were there. Bring mosquito repellent!

Great boat ride to island, not as much to see, but beautiful hike to the ruins where the Royals of the Mayan community lived during the drier season when they could easily travel without boat to the area.
