This place is great, small but cozy and the music is amazing!! Easy to say that from all the jazz clubs in New Orleans this one is definitely worth a visit.

We went here based on a recommendation. The musicians were great, especially the piano player. The place is small and they direct you to seating at tables and benches. There are drink minimums.

What is just a bar during the day becomes an intimate place to hear jazz from the past. The musicians are very talented and quite entertaining as well. Enthusiastic crowd keeps things hopping.

My wife and I, along with several friends have been traveling to New Orleans for years. We always make several afternoon stops at Fritzle's. The true reason is the day time bartender Errol, who is not only an excellent bartender but makes everyone feel welcomed. The bar itself has a much different feel than most places in the Quarter. The... More

This is one of the few real jazz bars left in Bourbon Street. Good trad jazz with different live bands and no cover charge. a good range of drinks and good service. The music breaks are short and the crowd were attentive during music. Quiet during the day with happy hour prices. A great refuge from the noise and crowds... More

This is a great small bar and the perfect stop for traditional Dixieland Jazz. There's no cover charge and the drinks are good and reasonably priced. The atmosphere is friendly. We've even been there when patrons got up and started a second-line parade complete with handkerchiefs and umbrellas. The music is excellent and you get a close-up experience. So go... More

I'm giving it an average rating versus poor because we were during the day. We stopped in as we were wandering around. They advertised $3 hurricanes. There's a reason. This was the worst hurricane I've ever had. It tasted like cough syrup. I would honestly rather pay $8 somewhere else. I ended up giving it to a couple of guys... More

Fritzel's was recommended to us by a local as a great place for traditional Dixieland Jazz and we were not disappointed. The bar is in the "quiet" end of Bourbon Street. The Jazz band starts at 9.00pm and we arrived a little before 9 and got great seats beside the band. There was no cover charge and drinks were reasonably... More

Only stopped for a drink in the afternoon to get out of the heat. Nice seat in the open door kept us close to the. action for abit of people watching. Groovy looking small bar. Have heard it is the place for good jazz tunes in the Quarter. $3 Hurricanes! Had to see what the fuss was about...The batman wasn't... More

Staying in French Quarter

Neighbourhood Profile
French Quarter
A small and teeming network of laissez-faire living lounged out on the balmy banks of the Mighty Mississippi, the French Quarter has long been a port of call for folks in search of a good time and a great story. Perpetually inebriated Bourbon Street runs across its midriff like a strand of cheap ribbon tied around an otherwise rather pretty and impressively well-kept vintage dress. Throughout the rest of the Quarter, brightly colored Victorian homes and businesses, famously done up with wrought-iron features, provide a distinct and immediately recognizable backdrop for all varieties of fun. At any given moment in this historic riverside setting, some of America’s finest meals are being cooked, most potent cocktails are being mixed, and most engaging music is being performed.
