Rosetree Blown Glass Studio and Gallery specializes in the creation of blown art glass in the Venetian style of furnace work. We have one of the largest contemporary art glass galleries in the South. 99% of the work in our gallery is created in our in-house studio. You can watch masters of the glassblowing art manipulate molten glass using two-thousand year old methods. We are just a short 8 block walk from the Algiers/Canal Street Ferry terminal through a bucolic neighborhood. Stroll the quiet streets of the second-oldest neighborhood in New Orleans. See our gorgeous houses and churches and stop for an adult beverage at one of our top-rated bar rooms. The Ferry does not take passenger cars anymore, although some GPSes will try and take you on it. If you want to drive to the studio, please call for directions. The charge for pedestrians on the Ferry is $2 each way. We are open M-F 10:00-4:00 with a lunch break 12:30-1:30. Please call for Saturday hours.

While visiting the studio is free, you will have to pay for your lessons. It was the highlight of our trip though. Highly recommend checking out their Facebook page and scheduling a glass blowing lesson. You are able to keep your piece, have a one of a kind story to tell friends at home and it's more affordable than anything... More

There's an art to not knowing where you are when traveling. While in a quiet and charming neighborhood by accident we stumbled into what appeared to be an art deco theatre, only to discover something else. It was worth the stumble, for inside was a Murano, near Venice, Italy and pieces that will blow (no pun intended) you away: a... More

The glassblowers wife was really sweet. She greeted us, started a video of her husband and we watched with glee. I also watched him as he was actually doing the same process on the video as he was doing in live action in front of us. Very talented for a guy that is color blind. Great works of art and... More

Love coming in to look at the beautiful pieces created. Also like that custom pieces can be created. Very much worth a trip on the West Bank to shop here.

I planned a bachelorette party for the week between Christmas and New Year's Eve. My friends and I are always looking to explore different parts of NOLA to intermingle with our favorite dives and restaurants outside of the Quarter. I came across Rosetree while on such a search. The idea of a blow your own session was perfect for the... More

This gem was suggested by TripAdvisor and was the perfect fit for our family. The studio is located in a converted theater, with the stage and orchestra pit now holding the kilns, furnaces and workshops. When we went, the master and his apprentice where working on detailing a large vase. We where able to watch the work from viewing windows.... More

If you are visiting Algiers Point the Rosettes Glassblowing Studio is an absolute must see. The studio is located inside an old movie theatre which they have repurposed. The owners are very friendly and you can watch them blow the glass right in the studio. They do offer classes as well. They make lots of wonderful vases, lampshades, ring holders,... More

We thoroughly enjoyed the "Blow Your Own" experience the Monday before Thanksgiving. After being warmly greeted at the door, Mark took us into the glass-making area and introduced us to Solange, our instructor. She explained the process, describing what we would do by ourselves, and how she would take care of the most complicated parts, with our help. We picked... More

I attended a bridal shower at the studio where the guests each made a blown glass Ornament for the couples first Christmas tree. The party had the studio to itself. It was great fun. Staying in Algiers

Neighbourhood Profile
Algiers
Sitting pretty across the Mississippi River from the rambunctious French Quarter, the Crescent City’s second oldest neighborhood is as historic and as scenic as any – just a lot less showy about it. With its numerous 19th and early 20th century homes and plentiful parks and riverside green space for cycling and walking, subdued and low key Algiers yields the best views of New Orleans and offers a quiet haven from the hustle and bustle in other parts of town. Most of the area’s activity, for visitors anyway, takes place at Algiers Point where the famous Canal Street / Algiers Ferry has been the main attraction since 1827 and is still giving folks one of the best rides in town at very affordable rates. Restaurants, bars and music venues here all but guarantee the utmost of authentic experiences sans any hype or high prices.
