This location is smack in the middle of all the great things in the quarter! We did a homeaway rental on this street and walked literally everywhere, to every attraction/restaurant/bar we wanted to go to! Love, love, love this place!

Amazing preservation. To learn about where our medicine has come from and to actually see it in front of you. Five dollars and they give student and military discounts. They dont allow drinks but he will happily hold your coffee behind the counter until youre...More

We enjoyed strolling up here. There’s lots of architecture and quaint shops to admire. Plus it’s not too busy.

It is just delightful walking around the Quarter, so many little nooks and crannies to explore and the littler shops are the better shops as they have been there for ages. Make sure you put on your walking shoes as you will be walking for...More

Great street to stroll along and enjoy the architecture, shops and cafes and people watching. Either side of Jackson square is good, other streets worth walking are Royal and Decatur

Unless you are into honky tonk, appreciate the rowdiness, dirtyness, hustle-bustle, avoid Bourbon Street and get a feeling for the French Quarter on Chartres St. or Rue Royal. Shops, restaurants, architecture, it's all here.

Have been to NOLA many times and now don't even bother with Bourbon Street which is what brings so many on the first trip. Streets like Chartres have so much more character, history and interest. The street changes as you walk up it - the...More

Unlike some of the more famous streets (like Bourbon), Chartres is actually a pleasant street to stroll and experience the Quarter. Backspace Bar is also on Chartres, which is my favorite bar in the quarter, so that might also be why I like the street...More

Depending on which side of Jackson Square you are on, determines what is available. On one side, shops and a few very good restaurants are located here. On the other, a couple of shops/bars/ but mostly residential with beautiful 18 and 19 century bldgs. Either...More

I love walking down Chartres Street whenever I'm in New Orleans, and the various art galleries, shops, and interesting architecture. One of my favorites is Earth Odyssey (306 Chartres), with some very impressive rocks, minerals, and fossils, many made in to jewelry.
