Just a super educational experience in many ways. The guide was exceptionally knowledgeable with a biology degree believe it or not. The uniqueness, the wildlife, the entire ecosystem we were in was amazing. I can't speak for other tours but this one was 110% awesome. See for yourself please try

Picked up at our hotel by Lorraine and even though she only took us back to the departure point, she was fabulous! Made a short bus ride picking up other guests wonderfully enjoyable. Also giving us names and people to see at the plantations we were going to visit even if another driver was taking us there. if you start... More

Amazing experience touring the two plantations was great! So much history and culture. We learned and saw a lot on the tours. So glad we went to both. Really different from each other. They picked us up in buses right at our hotel. So convenient.

We went on two tours, the Plantation tour and the swamp tour. Both were excellent, bus drivers were informative and friendly, and Captain Bishop on the swamp tour was funny and knowledgeable. A great experience!

This is a fun way to spend several hours on a boat searching for alligators and other wildlife. We were fortunate to have a lovely sunny day and we did see a few gators and some other animals, although not too many overall. But the scenery is pretty and was nice to get out of the city. If you get... More

Hello, lolamini! As it being a swamp tour and not an alligator or wildlife tour, we are pleased to hear that you were still able to see some wildlife during this time of year as it is the time that the gators start to slow down. We are happy to hear that you had an enjoyable time and thank you... More

I spent a long time looking at swamp tours, and finally decided that the small boat at Cajun Encounters offered the most in-depth tour short of kayaking (we were with my mother in her 80s). In November the water level was low: you could see the high water mark on the trees about 18 inches or two feet higher. So... More

Hello, erichschlaikjer! We do apologize that the small boat was having some engine problems while you were on tour. These things do tend to happen from time to time but we are pleased to hear that Captain Ryan made it very enjoyable. Thank you for choosing Cajun Encounters for your touring experience. More

The Honey Island Swamp Tour was fun! Ryan was a fun captain! We went on a chilly day in November and still saw 3 alligators, raccoons, nutria, turtles, heron, and egrets. The Swamp itself is beautiful. It's only about a 45 minute drive from NOLA. Recommend!

This was a fun tour. We went mid November on the last tour of the afternoon. It was about 60 degrees so the alligators were not out. We did see egrets, herons, turtles, and raccoons and a wild pig that the guide got to come up close to the boat with marshmallows. It was great just tooling around in the... More

We went on 2 tours with Cajun Encounters: Oak Alley & Laura Plantations, the Swamp tour. The tours were well organised. Our pick up point was in the French Quarter and both tours went direct to the destination after a few more hotel pickups en route. Plantations Tour - the Oak Alley and Laura plantations were very different and it... More

The people running this tour absolutely made it. They were funny and great story tellers. Dale the bus driver was really funny; pointed out things en route to the swamp and kept us informed of what was going on. Alan was the captain of the swamp tour – he was incredibly informative, lots of stories about the wildlife, voodoo etc;... More
