Very nice and authentic neighborhood. Go there for the clubs on Frenchmen street, but go though the little streets and feel the spirit of the place

My adult family & I stayed in a shotgun-style rental home in The Marigny for a week-long June vacation. The immediate area had a mix of rehabbed & undergoing-rehab dwellings, but the variety of architectures & exterior decorations & paint schemes were a real treat...More

We stayed in a private rental on Royal St near Franklin. It was an easy walk to the French Quarter, very near Frenchman Street, and a variety of small restaurants and coffee shops. Neighborhood is gentrifying so it is a mix of people and housing,...More

Searched on Google for Sunday afternoon music venues and found Bamboulas on Frenchmen Street in the Marigny neighborhood. The Bon Bon Band was playing and they are amazing. Recommend using Uber or taxi as parking can be a problem.

This area takes New Orleans down a notch, but with historic houses, art galleries, and nice restaurants. We walked around in the evening and ended up at a nice but moderately priced restaurant that had live music. It would also be a good area to...More

The area is wonderfully characterful and with bars, shops and restaurants dotted around. Walking the area you see something new every time and easy walking distance of the French Quarter. Watty

We enjoyed staying in a home in the Maigny. It was easy to get around by Uber and our house was gorgeous and comfortable.

Have spent too much time in the French Quarter and not wandered too far away, what a mistake. This is so close but is absolutely wonderful, a vibrant neighbourhood with history and char, lovely old homes but so different to the Quarter.

Faubourg Marigny & Bywater
Nestled between the French Quarter and the Ninth Ward,
the Faubourg Marigny & Bywater environs are largely
residential. Of course, folks around here love to go
out and have a good time as much as they do anywhere
in NOLA. And if out-of-towners want to join in the
festivities, well then so much the better! Home to
some of the most revered live music venues in New
Orleans, an eclectic gaggle of gourmand dining

From Canal St (Central Bus District) you would follow the river and first you hit the French Quarter, then the Faubourg Marigny and then the Bywater. They are all built along the river, the original city. Short distance... More
