Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Beautiful area with many amazing, very colorful buildings. Quite and nice gateway from Bourbon and French District within several hundred meters from FD. Strongly recommend for a walk. Great photo shoot area.

Faubourg Marigny is a neighborhood founded in the 1800's by Jean-Bernard de Marigny and features colorful Creole cottages. The neighborhood is very walkable to enjoy the quaint and unusual architecture and murals. There are some B&B's in the area, like Auld Sweet Olive, if you'd like the experience of staying in a local neighborhood . It's walking distance to Frenchmen Street where there is live music and lots of restaurant options.

We rented a house in this neighborhood. We walked a few blocks to good restaurants, Frenchmen Street for non-stop music and art, and grocery stores. While the French Quarter is a mile away, it was an easy walk. The neighborhood is picturesque with brightly painted classic New Orleans houses. People were friendly and helpful.

Older area outside of the downtown area. It’s a very art and music driven area. Feels rough but actually probably quite safe.

This neighborhood would be a good place for a walking tour to see the architecture and pick up the vibe. If you can't find a guide, maybe self-guided.

This neighborhood of history, shot gun houses, Creole cottages, and tree lined streets is a history buffs paradise. This area was once a plantation. It's also where many of the Jazz greats lived. The houses are cute. You can walk thru this area but we found it by bus tour. It is next to the French Quarter. The area was clean, family friendly, and safe. Lots of people out walking, and enjoying the day. There are some restaurants in the area, and we would like to return at night next time we visit NOLA.

A nice walk to see the old historical houses of Maigny. They are in great shape and are all painted different colors. Just a nice side trip.

Interesting and colorful. I drove through the neighborhood. Very New Orleans, I'd say. Worth the time to see it.

Branch out from the French Quarter and Garden District to discover this close-in neighborhood full of life and some cool architecture. Stop at a cafe. Hang out.

A wonderful way to spend a few hours on a nice day is driving Marigny and Bywater to view the colorful murals and houses. Take a break mid-way at any one of a number of delicious cafes or coffee shops.
