We stumbled upon this by accident. It's a classy venue. The drinks are not cheap but they are good and the service is good. Most important: We were amazed by the performances. This will be a regular stop in our future visits.

Couldn't find the Jazz Playhouse at first because it is hidden within the Royal Sonesta Hotel. Once found though it was great music and friendly staff.

We love Burlesque shows and this one didn't let us down. The gals were fantastic, mesmorizing with their talent, dance and friendliness. The singer, unfortunately you were lucky if you could understand her. Not sure if it was the mic/speaker or just the way she talks, but the show was fantastic, the drinks strong and the environment had terrific ambiance,... More

We purchased preferred seating tickets ($20 each) in advance, and were happy with our decision. We arrived at 8 pm and were escorted to our reserved table, center stage, front row...I could have put my feet on the stage. Non-preferred seating is available, at no charge I believe, but it was all taken by the time we arrived...certainly is available,... More

We enjoyed the Jazz quintet so much on Monday night that we went back on Tuesday (very disappointing trio with no brass). Reservations recommended for weekends but open seating is not a problem if you arrive early. Drinks were good and priced about the same as most other bars in NOLA. Nice comfortable smoke free atmosphere with good service.

Definitely recommend this place. Do not film though as they will stop the show and point you out and advise to stop filming. Worth it all the while, though. Tip top.

Everything about this place is perfect. The decor is beautiful. The menu includes great drink and food options. The music was just great. We stayed for 2 sets. The crab mac & cheese was a great snack while there.

My wife and I recently spent 4 nights at the Royal Sonesta on Bourbon Street. We had read a review of the Jazz Playhouse online and were aware of it's location in the hotel. We visited the Playhouse several times and were impressed with the high quality of the performances. Every evening a different jazz band performs. The 3 we... More

Staying in French Quarter

Neighbourhood Profile
French Quarter
A small and teeming network of laissez-faire living lounged out on the balmy banks of the Mighty Mississippi, the French Quarter has long been a port of call for folks in search of a good time and a great story. Perpetually inebriated Bourbon Street runs across its midriff like a strand of cheap ribbon tied around an otherwise rather pretty and impressively well-kept vintage dress. Throughout the rest of the Quarter, brightly colored Victorian homes and businesses, famously done up with wrought-iron features, provide a distinct and immediately recognizable backdrop for all varieties of fun. At any given moment in this historic riverside setting, some of America’s finest meals are being cooked, most potent cocktails are being mixed, and most engaging music is being performed.
