About
Jamie Hayes has had a gallery in the heart of the French Quarter for nearly 20 years and has become synonymous with New Orleans culture. Since Jamie is severely colorblind, pastels are all grey to him, so he uses bright, vivid colors to create all of his whimsical designs. Our wide selection of souvenirs (including mugs, voodoo dolls, tote bags, and many more) and artwork all designed by Jamie Hayes is sure to give anyone a unique remembrance of our amazing city!

Neighbourhood: French Quarter
A small and teeming network of laissez-faire living lounged out on the balmy banks of the Mighty Mississippi, the French Quarter has long been a port of call for folks in search of a good time and a great story. Perpetually inebriated Bourbon Street runs across its midriff like a strand of cheap ribbon tied around an otherwise rather pretty and impressively well-kept vintage dress. Throughout the rest of the Quarter, brightly colored Victorian homes and businesses, famously done up with wrought-iron features, provide a distinct and immediately recognizable backdrop for all varieties of fun. At any given moment in this historic riverside setting, some of America’s finest meals are being cooked, most potent cocktails are being mixed, and most engaging music is being performed.

Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

We visit the Jamie Hayes Gallery with every visit to NOLA. We have acquired quite a collection of art dolls. The Big Lip dolls are our favorite. They have so many little details. The staff at the Gallery are always friendly and helpful and if your lucky Jamie himself we be there to greet you. Today we bought a doll and a book and he signed it for us. So if your in NOLA stop by you won't be disappointed.

While walking in the Quarter over to the Cathedral, I popped into this gallery and fell in love! The designs are great, colorful, whimsical, full of the joie de vivre that is New Orleans!!! The prices are affordable so you can take home a piece of this artwork, and if lucky, can meet Jamie or his family. This is artwork that makes you smile, and the designs are intricate with a great splash of color. Not bad for a color-blind artist! The staff are friendly , and let you ooh and aah over the clever prints, dancing hippos, laughing alligators, cheschire grinning cats. Don't miss it !

If you don't know Jamie Hayes and his work, you need to! His studio is is a great shop on Charles St. and you can spend an hour easily just choosing your favorite piece. It's really cool because most, if not all, of his work is available in print making it affordable to have a piece of his talent at home. Jamie's work is fun and creative and colorful...it's art! A lot is musical themed and he does this trademark wide smile on pieces that's a piano. With a gold tooth!!!
My favorite is the bluesman. Being a huge blues music fan I couldn't not own it. Wish I could afford an original but I love my embellished print and Jamie signed it for me while I was there. Yup, he even hangs out in the shop/studio. You need to put this on your to do list as you wander around the quarter.

We’ve been coming to NOLA for over 20 years. Each time, a visit to Jaime Hayes Gallery is a must. We’ve purchased and commissioned multiple pieces. His staff (Kurt/Amy/Pam) are absolutely amazing. Their value is being a part of family and their mission is to make you feel like the most important guest in Louisiana.
